Running With Decks Awash

I was playing around in a sub today and noticed that if I submerge, then set depth at zero I can induce a state where the electrics are running, only my periscope is showing, I get a surface external view and can maintain a diesel speed of 16k.

In this state the AI does not fire at me either.

I don't know if this has been reported but I thought I'd post it anyway.
