You Guys Will Get A Kick Out Of This.

I'm thinking of lining my office with egg crate foam as I've found that my voice tends to get louder and louder as the tension increases during the game.
One night I was caught between two DD's in my U-Boat and was trying to maneuver into firing position both forward and aft... I was frantically shouting ?PIVOT PORT? AHEAD FLANK? FIRE BOW?FIRE BOW? FIRE BOW... FIRE STERN? DIVE? DIVE? DIVE??
All of a sudden the lights went on in the room? jumped the hell out me? I spun around and (still in the moment) shouted ?get her off my bridge?then my bleary eyes focused in on her standing in the bulkhead?err doorway in her? shall we say pajamas? and thought ?Damn being the Captain is a good thing.?
I took my right ear out of the headphones and expected her to say ?Herr Kapitan!!! Is that a torpedo in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
Instead I heard ?Do you realize it?s 4:30 in the morning?!??
Just then in my left ear, the sound of the glass breaking in the depth gauge caught my attention and I turned back to the screen to see if I could salvage my boat? wrong thing to do!
The next sound was my office door slamming? hmmm? decisions, decisions.
I quickly shouted ?blow ballast? which in retrospect may not have been the best choice in words as she claims she heard something altogether different.
Anyway, I'm trying to keep my voice down now but this damn game is so 'immersive' that I still find myself getting caught up in the moment.
I'm thinking of building a small shed out back and decorating the inside just like a U-Boat... complete with Captains quarters, a head... and a wet bar. 8)
I know how it feels but at least it looks like you have a headset, I have to use a small mic I put on top of my monitor that comes free with my sound card. I have to fight against the sound from my computer speaker to give my orders.
headphones and a mic combo is the best. i picked up a cheap 10 dollar mic that clips onto my shirt collar, it works hella good, i've done 2 training's for my speech recognition and now all my commands work.
headphones are a must, i have a 60 dollar pair of headphones, that cover my ears fully. sometimes i dive down, cut engines, and hold up my hands and press the headphones against my head, listening intently for the engines or torpedoes to pass by.
its hard not to wake up people in your house when your yelling at the computer. just think if you moved into the shed, your neighbours would think you've gone nuts, hearing you yell submarine commands while sitting in your tool shed.
the best thing i find to control the volume of your voice is to change how you focus your energy. instead of getting really loud, and yelling, or shouting, focus your energy, make it intese. its hard to explain in text, i've studied music for 6 years now, and one of the biggest things with a concert band to show excitment in the music, you dont get louder, but you get more intese. make the accents and the "syllables" more sharp, and clear.
Oh how I chuckled at this thread.
My other half and our three year old daughter think it is hilarious to wonder in to my office and copy my voice commands in to the boom mike. I usually quickly hit pause and wait for them to tire of their little game.
HAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!
I can really relate to this
Oh man this is the truth!
Oh jesus tell me about it. My PC is in the bedroom. My girfriend has taken to muttering "sink the b***ard" in her sleep.
damn... i can't wait for my copy
I know what how you feel. When my girlfriend came down stairs in a little black silk nighty and said "it's three in the morning" and then asked "Are you going to torpedoe ships all night all would you rather come to bed and TORPEDOE something else?" lets just say that when i responded with " Carn't i do both i recieved a rather sharp slap"
LOL Woody!
You've made me totally rethink the meaning of the word "LAPTOP"
How funny...I knew I wouldn't be the only one who would have problems using the voice commands at niteLOL this thread is too funny hehehhehehe....
Hi guys new here but here goes anyway. Just wanted to pick up on one thing with the voice recognition. To project your voice you have to be able to feel it coming from the front of your mouth rather than the back of the throat or mouth. Hard to explain but try it. If you get the hang of it yu never have probs with voice recog software.
I moved into my new house middle of last year neighbours up stair's and through the wall had all said how quiet we are.
I have 5 kid's one of whom is only 2. and even with em all we never recieved a complaint ,that was until i bought my copy of E:RT.
I have had Joe upstairs bang on his floor, and the old lady next door ask me to keep it down a bit at night.
This game is going to push my happy relationship with them to breaking point.
Har Har, if they say anything else i'll torpedo there car's.
