All things considered, The oilers in Lfn mission#4-6 seem to be agile little swines.

Surely if they are loaded, then those engines can't be that powerful enough to let them move so quickly!

And if they are empty, why chase them? toss:

I think you safely can assume they are loaded.

If oilers were/are empty , they are still valuable assets .

There was an interesting posting recently when someone asked what the difference was between an oiler and a tanker .

Oilers fuel ships . ( Fuel being a verb in this case ! )

Tankers carry fuel .

Glad someone asked !

I sometimes pondered about it !

An afterthought :

All vessels of whichever sort ..except for hydrofoils, hovercraft etc

All those which are known as "displacement" vessels ( that just means the usual boats and ships - until other kinds to which different physics apply were invented )

All of such , are limited by " hull speed " .

This means the length of the hull at waterline will limit the speed .

The longer ,, the faster .

Being empty ,, lighter ,, will not affect this much at all .

Funny, in U-Boat #2 I saw some Yank tanks making revs for 11 knots.

Well I am on sub mission 5, and damn is it difficult. I just keep gettting swarmed by the surface vessels and sent to the abyss. tried the surface and run tactic, works ok till I sink of course. I am having a hard time learning how to evage sonar/ASDIC. I know there are threads, and have read them. But I guess my thirst for filling the briny deep with crimson overpowers my patience.

Oh well, sail on and learn I guess enigma!:

Yes indeed , when I held a junior command , I quickly discovered that all strategies were highly successful , until one was sunk .

However , sinking other ships , increases the chance of ultimate victory .

Perhaps using the pause , and seeing where all the oilers are , and speed and direction .

Conserve some torpedoes .

Often a good opportunity arrives later when last oiler/s are close .
