Would Like To Test A Df And Coop Mission On Your Server

Hello ToW!

I wrote a Dogfight (respawn) mission that has two objectives for each side: Primary are two Recon flights flying in opposite directions at 4000 meters. Secondary is an aritillery battery with some archie support. Having already done most of the work, I also made a Co-op version and brought the Recons down to 1000m. All objectives respawn when killed. Recons also respawn once they reach their waypoints. Everything is fairly close-in so there isn't alot of cruising to an objective. Arty batteries are marked with smoke to aid in finding.

If interested, let me know an I'll send the missions to an email address.

Sure thing Smoking Hole.

I've actually been wanting some recon/escort type missions. At least one for each side. I really just want the missions to be self-explanatory to first time players. With a detailed map, description, etc.. I also do not mind helping out there if needed.

Were you around when we were trying Chill's recon missions? He had a similar mission, where the recons respawned. Myself I was not a big fan of the respawning recon planes. To me it was just weird.. Plus it made the mission drag out a real long time since one time the winning team never ran out of planes to kill. I would rather just see 2 recons try to make it 'there and back' to win or lose the primary objective. If even one makes it 'back', then it's a successful escort. With the mission lasting around 15-20 min for the recons to do their full patrol. I do like what you said about having everything close so there is not a lot of cruising around.

I don't mean to be picky, and really appreciate new missions! Anyone else have thoughts on the respawning recons? Maybe it's just me.. ;)

If you want to send the Coop mission my way feel free. My email is @gmail.com, with a trevdell in front. I do have a test server we can try them on, or if it's just a few of us around we could try them out on ToW.

Hi Mols,

Thanks for the reply. I was around for Chilli's Recon test and I do agree that they can be kind of tedious for a coop. The mission will work well in a DF setting. As a coop I think it will suffer from the same proplems we saw with Chilli's. The coops you guys use work really well because the objective is really just a visually fun excuse for everyone to get together and fight. My mission will really only be enjoyable if there are 8 + players per side. As a co-op, there are a few more things I'd like to do with it but I wanted to see if it runs on a dedicated server first.

I really appreciate you for taking the time to test and I appologize in advance for your trouble if it doesn't work.

In addition to the brief below, the map is well marked with tool-tips.

Cambrai/St. Quentin Co-op Mission

Light blue line on the map indicates the line of opposing troops. Central is Northeast of the line and Entente is Southwest. Each side has two Objectives:

Primary: Destroy the opposing Recon Flight flying at 1000 meters and,

Secondary: Destroy at least 4 of the opposing Artillery units indicated on the map.

Ground units have some Archie support. Archie may also assist in helping to find the recon flights. The Recon planes fly a 30 km route and then respawn to their original starting positons.

I've just up'ed the mission to ToW, and can now flip a switch to make it the first in the rotation.

I'll wait till you are around to first try it though.
Thanks again Mols. My family just returned from Japan after being away for a month. So I think it might be awhile before I can get any planned extended moments to join the server. Feel free to try it out if things are slow and people are bored. I really just want to be sure that the mission is playable without any big drags on the server and that the concept, simple and cliche as it is, works. If it does then I want to eventually try some semi-historic DF missions with more AI (ground mainly) units fighting as we flight above. When I create my own server to test this mission, strange things happen to the "game clock" as it lags and speeds up. I think (hope) that this is just due to my both "serving" and flying the mission. But the only way to know for sure is to see if it is playable on a dedicated server.

If you like it, it belongs to ToW, and I will make any changes you desire or anyone else can modify as they see fit.
