TOW FISC Server

Hey gang...

I would like to see our Group fly in a server that can support a dedicated 409 b1m setting much similar to that having recently been built by the FA or Fallen Angels Squad. That Squad is now flying 409 beta flight ops solely and have left 408m behind in the dust.

By going this route as TOW's "Anchor Squad", we have access to fly the maps that make sense to us as a Group on the FISC level and to enjoy. Don't get me wrong but I do enjoy the Okinawa 45 server but we need to spread our wings some in my view.

Thoughts ?

This is an excellent idea and Tides would VERY much like to support this endeavour. It was very difficult for me to find out enough to get a server running realiably and that seems to have been resolved by a number of Squadrons that are now know to us. I will try to investigate with Mongouse as to how his server is run.

I have just wathced the zenowarbirdsdriveinmovie of navy bombers and I think the size of the Solomons islands map very much suits this project. It is a MASSIVE map with the opportunity to have different actions taking place in different areas.

I also see the idea of a progressive operations over weeks.

I would like to see the moving targets on a Dedicated Server as part of the solution (maybe as a second phase).

Full FISC is a must I believe and help for those that struggle in the form of offers of training.

Stability in dedicated servers is certainly better than a few years ago and it is well worth trying again.

I have spoken to FA_Monguse and he is very happy to help us out to get a server running. His main man on Servers is FA_IKKYO.

He is keen to setup a level of cooperation that may in due course include a Dual operation campaign, meaning that two sesrvers would run the same map concurrently with competing squadrons as in Forgotten Skies. This means different Ops would be conducted on the same map but in different servers ggathering campaign data that would be collated and progress the overall campagin. One server would be theirs and the other ours for the short time period of the weekly/biweekly campaign Operations. At othertimes of course we would be running a standard Dogfight server and or MCVG-2's pown campaign.

How does all this sound to you.

Monguse agrees that FISC (or relaxed by including speedbar only) is the way ahead.

Opinions please chaps.

Today is Sunday at 6:30PM and I replied to your email once I got back from the harbor performing my weekly Kayak training on the ocean.

Seriously, this is a great opportunity for us as a Group. Any opportunities to expand upon this idea to support our Groups flight ops as well as other similar squads like the FA and others would be of great benefit I think. Lets shape this into a well defined art piece.

Thanks Gos !

Bosti, Rino
I am looking for you to collate opinions from your chaps and shape these bare bones into a realistic plan of action to get this server up and running.

Gos
Bosti's internet is down. He may be offline till atleast January 3rd if not longer. The MCVG-2 is FISC oriented and we want to push off in that direction for any sort of flight ops with "Speed Bar" active pertaining to any server participation. Thats the Commanders Intent as I understand it with support from the other key leaders inside the Group as well.

As for a plan of action is concerned, Tides has a server we can use. Focus that server to be run at the Full realism level minus Speed Bar active. As for maps, I've got atleast one we can use, its a "Iwo Jima" January 45 setting. Carrier TF vs. Carrier TF with Iwo Jima in the middle. Flight distances are long range with many surprises in the out of the way places on the map for "realism". This would be "Semi-Historical".

Other than that, thats the best I can provide you Gos based on what I know and have heard from the others within MCVG-2.
