Vista Installation Error

I've installed and even patched Enigma Rising Tide with Gameshadow but it crashes at the Copy Protection System dialog with an 'An Error Encountered' message. I never was prompted for the ID code during the installation process.

I'm running Vista but and have configured it to run as an Adminstrator and in XP Compatibility mode, and I still get the same error.

Any suggestions?

I am not sure if the game is compatible with Vista.

You are saying that the game crashes at the copy protection check. Try disable your Antivirus, and (if any) CD/DVD emulators.

Also download and install the latest Starforce protection http://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/

I've updated the Starforce Protection and still get the same error message. I have DirectX 9c, so I don't want to install DirectX 8. Would you think that it needs DirectX 8 to initiate properly?

Naah you don't need to downgrade DirectX, the game is fully compatible with DX9.

We have seen this issue several times before, and it has in most cases been solved with updating the Starforce driver.

Do you have Nero installed? If you have then you may want to try and disable all it's related services (some versions of Nero comes with a CD/DVD emulator).

Also make sure you have the latest and greatest video driver installed for your video card.

Starforce has a major problem with quite a few CD/DVD drives which isn't compatible with their protection system, I do not hope yours fall into that category.

If all fails you can try and email support@warfleet.net just remember to attach a copy of your DXDiag. (click start->run-> then type "dxdiag" and hit enter). Let the program gather all the information it needs, then save a report and attach it to the email. However I am not sure if Tesseraction Games still offers support on that email address, but I guess it's worth a try.

If that too fails, you can probably buy a used copy of the UK/EU Retail (not Gold) from the publisher named GMX on Ebay or similar. That edition does not have the STF protection, and can be equally patched to Gold.

I just got a new computer with Vista 64 bit; when installing, I get up to the point where it asks to reboot the system to install the protection driver. The reboot never does. No errors. And because there is no driver installed, the Starforce driver updater that I downloaded has nothing to update. Tried running in XP SP2 mode to no avail.

My guess, just not compatible.
