Why is it so important to know how to speak English?

I had a bunch of Canadian dollars I needed to exchange, so I went to the currency exchange window at the local bank.

It was a short line. Just one lady in front of me, an Asian lady who was trying to exchange yen for dollars and she was a little irritated.

She asked the teller, "Why it change?

Yesterday, I get two hunat dolla fo yen. Today I get hunat eighty?

Why it change?"

The teller shrugged his shoulders and said, "Fluctuations".

The Asian lady says, "Fluc you white people, too."

I was in San Antonio, Texas last year on a job and went into Burger King to order something to eat, (this is a true story)

• Conversation goes:
  Me: I would like a Whopper w/Cheese, please no Mayo.
  BK employee:(heavy Mexican accent) ahh....senior, pick numba pease.
  Me: All I want is a Whopper w/cheese and no Mayonaisse, please.
  BK employee:(heavy Mexican accent): uuhhhh......Numba pease.
  Me: I don't want a drink or fries, all I want is a Whopper w/cheese.....thats all. Only a Whopperw/cheese and no mayonaisse!
  BK employee:(heavy Mexican accent): Numba?
  Me: *SIGH* Ummm, never mind....
  BK employee:(heavy Mexican accent): Coke?

At this point, she turns around and points to the menu and says "Numba..................com..........bo?"

This is why it is important to hire employees that speak the language of the country inwhich they are working.

Sounds familar. It is the same over here at McDonalds (which is the number1 fast food restaurant in Germany btw., followed by Lufthansa catering service. BK is on place 6).

Lots of ?foreigners? working in fast food restaurants. I alway ask myself, why they don?t let them work in the kitchen only or maybe in the lobby, where they have no contact with the customers, when they hardly can speak german. No, instead they?re working as ordertaker and cashier. They aren?t mexican but turkish, kurdish and lebanese in the majority. In a typical german McDonalds restaurant working 1/3 germans and 2/3 foreign people.

I?m far from being racist and am glad these people finding a home and work in Germany but when I want to order my food, it is really annoying. When I eat at McDonalds it has to go fast because I?m in a hurry, otherwise I wouldn?t eat there. Then these ?ordertakers?and ?cashiers?wasting my time.

I too am not a racist as my father is German-Irish and my mother is Korean.

I have been fortunate enough to have traveled all over this planet as an Air Force brat, I have met many people and have been exposed to many cultures.

But for the love of everything that is Holy!!!! Can I just get someone to understand my order!!

THE ITALIAN WHO CAME TO AMERICA..................................

One day Ima go to No Fock, Virgina to a bigga hotel. I go down to eat soma breakfast.

I tell the waitress I wanna two p--- toast. She branga me only onea p---. I tell her I wanna two p---, she say go to the toilet, I say you no understand. I wanna two p--- on my plate. She say you better no p--- on the plate you Sonna Ma Bich. I don't even know the lady and she calla me a Sonna Ma Bich.

Later I go to eat some lunch at Tyler Restaurant, the waitress, Virginia, bringa me a spoon, ana knife, but no fock. I tell her I wanna fock, Virginia. She tellsa me everybody wanna fock. I tell her you no understand, I wanna fock on the table. She say no fock Virginia on the table. You Sonna Ma Bich. I don't even know the lady and she calla me Sonna Ma Bich and get the heck out of No Fock, Virginia.

So I go back to my room inna hotel, an there's no sheet on my bed. I calla the manager ana tell him I wanna sheet. He tells me to go to the toilet. So I say you no understand, I wanna sheet on the bed. He say you better not sheet onna bed, you Sonna Ma Bich. I don't even know the man and he calla me a Sonna Ma Bich.

I go to check out and the man at the desk, he say "peace to you". I say p--- onna you too, you Sonna Ma Bich, I going back to Italy!!!!

Why is it when I go to Taco Bell, the one place where you would think the Mexicans would find a home, there are never any around???

Just wondering.
