I'm leaving the guild, and the game at the end of the month. It's gotten to the point where it seems useless to carry on, i havn't raided much recently because of rl stuff and i'm finding this game very tedious and boring now just doing the same thing over and over.

I put a ridiculous amount of effort into my main character to use him in raiding situations and i thought this guild was going to get somewhere with the promises that asbach made when he started the guild, but there is an obvious downfall. This was meant to be a raiding guild in essence and was meant to be 'strict' but it's quite obvious that this applies to some players and not to others. There are few players that actually filled their roles properly in the raids with most being undergeared/poorly spec'd/not put any effort into learning how to maximise raid usefulness. Because of this there is a serious lack of being able to progress in 25 man content which is actually fairly difficult as oppose to Karazhan which you can lead most people through regardless of their ability/gear.

Seems a bit pointless to keep puting a lot of effort in for people who are clearly not willing to put any in.

I'll probably just pvp to the end of the month, good luck in your future raiding.

I remember putting you up as main tank for our ZG raids in the past. You had your Alterac Valley shield and pvp gear.

That was the first time we were introduced to speedraiding :D. An experience enjoyed by many. Ever since you have been off and maintanking through all the different instances with us. Ever remaining the best gear from grinding, pvp and sometimes even pve.

Its been an honor and a pleasure raiding/guilding and pvping with you.

Sad to see you quit wow alltogether...

Gluck with your other ventures!

Cheerz,

Yorga

Sad to see you go Dough. You're damn good tank.

I have to disagree with you a bit on what you said about DV raids though. DV was formed from people and friends from 2 existing guilds, not by collecting 40 or so experienced and top geared raiders. This means that we all need more gear and practice.

I agree that we still have some undergeared people, but grinding kara is pretty much the best way to get them geared. If DV kicked all of the 'not top gear uber skilled people' there wouldnt be enough people left for 25 man raids. DV could try to recruit more, but tbh i prefer to raid with people i know and like than 7 days a week with unknown super raiders (and tbh it might be easier to just leave to join a more progressed raid group, as recruiting ready uber good raiders is damn difficult).

You are right though that some of our current members need to optimize their spec, get lot more craftable/heroic gear and sped more gold on consumambles (i think all class leaders need to see what they can do fix this). The learning curve or jump from kara to SSC is huge and the new 25 man raids are lot less forgiving than the old 40 man raids.

good luck and godspeed in real life

Also sad to see you go Dough and Trispe, but understand RL has priority, and if you're not enjoying it then at the end of the day it is a game.

I'm aware of the tough patch we're in, since clearing kara for the first time a month ago, the last few weeks have had too many cancelled runs, so no real chance to show any progress at Gruul from our ongoing Kara-kitting.

I do believe that as a guild we have achieved a good amount since we were formed 2 months ago (First Aran, Prince, Nightbane, Kara Clear, Maulgar), but that expectations of contunuous progress are hard to meet. We will continue to focus on trying to get DV into and through the 25-mans (which has been my goal for the guild since being formed).

I did think you're farewell post could have included some of the good stuff as well rather than focussing solely on the negative; we do have a lot of people putting a lot of effort in, and have acheived several goals. There will always be quieter patches (wiping at curator for 3-4 weeks, or aran) before we suddenly 'get' it and make progress.

Anyway, I do wish you all the best inside/outside the game,

Asb.

It is indeed a sad day. We have fought side by side for many a battle, and I respect you and your opinion very much. So naturally i find myself a little worried when you say:

"There are few players that actually filled their roles properly in the raids with most being undergeared/poorly spec'd/not put any effort into learning how to maximise raid usefulness."

That is not good news, but on the other hand i am not convinced leaving is the best solution. For one, you are a classleader. That means for the warriors part, you are the one making sure they are specced for the job (yes i know they can think for them selves, but you are supposed to guide them), and give them pointers on gear and what to do. If people do not follow these advice (speccially the respeccing) it is cause for warning, demoting etc. But i havent seen or heard one comment from you regarding this (not saying the warriors are the problem here, or that you havent commented, i just havent seen anything and we do have the nice classleader subforum that apparantlu me, bux and koren are the only once using).

But if you think people are undergeared or badly specced then talk to the appropriate classleader so he or she can do something about it. If you just say "screw you guys im going home" then we wont have gotten anything fixed. What i am saying is that we have rules for this sort stuff, for excactly this reason.

You know i love you man, but i just feel we could do more if only you would speak up.

Good luck on your further adventures my friend.

Luv

Best of luck Dough. /salute. You were an ace tank and I could just see from your tanking skills and effort that you were responsible for loads of the progress ToW and then DV have made. Another /salute to you.
