Particles

Hi, Fisrt off, Great game!
only one problem. On big battles the framerate drops significantly when the fighting begins. I noticed it seems to be the smoke so i turned off particles and the fram rate increased massively. Is this beacause my computer isnt powerful enough or an incompatability:
athlon tbird 1400
512ddr ram
gforce 3 (latest detonators i think)
asus a7m266 mobo (latest drivers)
sound blaster audigy
this seems to be the only game except "medieval: total war" that slows down like this. maybe its something to do with sprites, i dont know just a layman here
thanks for any help
it could be sound releated, try this:
In windows, hit start->run, type dxdiag and run it,
Click on the sound tab and set the acceleration to basic close dxdiag, and open E:RT again
thanks ill try it when i finish work.
didnt seem to work
Id play it without particles but you cant see torpedoes
Thanks for the report. We're looking at the particle system for performance upgrades. We will likely have some type of fix for this that we will release with a feature patch in the next couple of weeks.
ok
cheers East
That patch is excellent news.
I too have severe framerate issues with the particles turned on - therefore no torpedo wakes.
