Good Kill And Thank You.

Good Kill and Thank you.

Is it necessary to say "Good Kill" each and every time you are shot down? I say no, not at all and I won't.

What is a 'good kill' anyway?

Some say a 'good kill' is any kill. Well that is NOT my line of thinking at all. I don't have argument or problem with those that do think any kill is a good kill because in RL Pilot situations it is most likely true (barring a case where you strafe a school yard or shoot down a commercial airline). But then some would even argue that, I would not refute that line of thought in a real war situation. Given that AA is just a 'game', lets limit our conversation to that realm.

A good kill is when you have even chance and even situation in my book. This is the ONLY situation I will offer a "GK". Is it really necessary to say? Not in my book. That other pilot "knows" he just made a good kill and does NOT need me to tell him so. It is just NOT a problem. Sometimes I do say "good move" or "good job" when another pilot is deserving of that..

Why is it that some pilots insist you type "GK" and make a big deal of it? Do they have some NEED to hear it? Do they think they deserve a "GK" upon each and every kill? Do they feel that "GK" is politeness? Or do they just want to see some type of 'tradition' carried out? When a pilot makes a big deal about it on coms .. I feel they are just insecure and MUST hear it or they just have to have total public acknowledgement of his/her victory. Probably other reasons also, but I'm not a Couch Doctor.

It does not bother me one bit if another pilot does not say "GK" to me. In fact many times I respond I'm not deserving of a GK with similar too: "Tks, but you and I both know it was a cheap kill :)".

I don't have a problem with those pilots that always say "GK" regardless. No problem at all. I have most of my macro keys tied up for Events, Ref and squad functions and I just don't have a one key stroke or time in most cases to type it. In my case I just have to concentrate very hard on what I'm doing and don't really have the skill to type and fly.

I would suggest, that by typing "GK" upon every death, what one is actually doing is making a really deserving good kill .... cheap. "GK" should be something really deserving and above the normal to me .. its not something to just hand out like trick-or-treat candy.

There are some that argue that saying "GK" is just politeness. I say if that is the case, then concentrate on those that spawn kill, runway, ESC, make rude and degrading remarks towards pilots or squads .. concentrate on projecting the concept of: "polite" and "nice" in those areas then maybe ..just maybe.. you can influence my line of thinking :)

I'm not the morals of AA, but I do have a voice and a choice of how I behave. This is all my opinion .. you have yours and the right to voice your thoughts.. and to behave as you choose.

Its a case of good manners, like please and thank you.

Our game is a social enviroment, we make friends from all over the world.

So good manners within the game, I feel promotes a better over all enviroment.

Try it sometime, you might be suprised

My opinion is a mixture of both above posts. I?m probably one of those pilots, who?re saying very often ?gk? and ?nk? (...and to type these 2 letters in the chat, even while fighting isn?t really a big deal).

I think it could be also a gk or nk if my opponent had an advantaged position because even then, I?m surely not easy to kill. I don?t say gk or nk, when I feel ?vulched? by a 3rd interupting pilot or when I think the kill was hard at the edge of the CoC or even a violation of the same. Being part of a ?furball? myself, there can?t be a good kill but probably a gs (good shoot) or ns (nice shoot), which is not exactly the same and which is, what the koreans saying. Also g1 and n1 is a way to avoid the usual gk and nk and describes rather the way someone has killed me, than the kill itself.

I?am with Tbar, when he says I don?t have to say (type) it everytime but I?m also with Sal, when he says `Its a case of good manners, like please and thank you.?

Wow tbar, Out of all the things you could be complaining about or trying to fix or help in this game, you waste your time on a "Why should i say gk thread?" LOL! Are you kidding me? Now i see where nitro is coming from...You really are messed up in the head......

LOL FOX, that's nothing. I remember when I was with TS Squad, that TBAR said it was bad for the game if TS members were flying around with stars. He said once we get a star in team room, we should crash or let someone down us. But anyway about Tbar's post, I say GK and TY most of the times. Like what WS SAL said, its good manners. I always found the ones that never says GK are sore losers.

thanks,

Nitro

Well I guess two peas in a pod would come up with those types of opinions.

Yes Sal and Tbar I agree with you and now lets move on to something a little more pleasurable.

We know that theres going to be bad apples where every we go, just pick'em and throw'em off to the side and keep picking till you find the good ones, which thank God there are a lot more of the good ones!

Read more of the forums, you will see many post by me. I don't consider any of the post or what I address "as a waste of time". I consider it all simply 'discussions'. Read This http://forum.tidesofwar.net/index.php?showtopic=6312

Good Manners is always important, and much more important than typing "GK". I always say "Tks" unless I totaly miss something. Good manners is as much of what you "don't say" as what you do say. I don't degrade other players or squads, I'm not rude to people and I don't use foul expressions, make negative demeaning insinuations. I don't Spawn kill, I don't runway, etc.. these are more important than typing "GK" IMHO. Remember .. this is all opinion and a persons own expression.

Also keep in mind some folks have full use of all their extremities .. others do not. Some folks can fly, watch TV, chew gum and chat with no sweat .. others can not.

Nitro although what you say is partialy true about the 'stars' and TS squad.. its totally out of content for the conversation that was held .. its not the whole story. But .. that is TS business.
