Our practrice today was simply outstanding. Attending todays practice was myself, Strife, Talon, Zarn and Tbar. We started out in a standard FFA room and then made a teams room to fly in.
Tbar asked who the I thought where the 2 best pilots of the bunch and of course I said Myself and I.
No just kidding, I told him I thought it was Tbar and Zarn. So Tbar suggested that I take Talon and Strife and fly against him and Zarn. This was a lot of fun and we learned a few things in the process.
We also made sure that we flew oppisite planes. Tbar and Zarn started out in ME-109 and we took Spits. Tbar and Zarn did a good job with the 109's plus my guys where not talking a whole lot.
We we had our chance in the 109's I did a lot better although I'm not sure about the rest of my team.
I think we actually beat Tbar and Zarn the second round.
SO what do we need to work on most. First I think we need to get communication going a LOT more.
Strife was really quiet in the first half and Talon hardly said anything at all. I myself did a really bad job of not calling targets. Tbar did a really good job of keeping Zarn informed.
We also strayed from our goals. We should of done a better job of keeping Tbar and Zarn pinned when we had the chance.
Second, as a team we flew pretty good. As wingmen we did a fair job but not good enough to keep us alive. I was really late getting in behind Strife's attackers and that was happening to me also.
I think that this is because of our lack of communication. We also see need to anticipate the attackers moves. This will let us protect our wingman a little better. We should also be using the maps and cockpit views a lot more. I today I did and excellent job on this and that is what I tried focusing on for myself. Where I failed is not letting my team mates know what I was doing.
All in all this was a very very, good practice. What we need is more new pilots to train. It is EVERYONES JOB to recruit. If you see someone new, write to them and snatch'em up as soon as you can. If they say they don't think they are good enough, tell them thats what makes them perfect for us! We are all new and we will all learn together. A pilot that has a lot of experience is good to have, but most all of them are in a squad or they don't want to be part of one. Some of them do not want to fly with new squads, why because they have a reputation to uphold I guess, and those we definately don't need because they will probably look out for there own intrests anyway. Those are not the ones we are looking for. What we need is new people that can fly the way we teach them. When they know what we do then they can protect us while we are attacking and we can cover them when they attack.
Ok, I've gone way longer that I've wanted to and I'm sure you guys are bored with reading it. So in short: 1. COMMUNICATE, 2. Protect your wingman, 3. RECRUIT, RECRUIT, RECRUIT and 4. Refer back to the first three!
