Oswald Boelcke was along with Max Immelmann a great german tactician in WW I and so to speak the ?teacher? of the red baron.

1.) Secure every advantage of an air battle (Speed, height, superiority in regard to numbers of attacking planes, positioning), before you engage. If possible keep the sun in your back.

2.) Don't quit an attack once started

3.) Fire your machine-guns at close range and only if you have the enemy in your cross-hairs.

4.) Always keep the enemy in sight

5.) If possible, always attack the enemy from behind

6.) Never try to avoid an attack of a diving foe but turn to face him instead.

7.) If you you are above enemy territories, always secure your own strategic withdrawal.

8.) For squads: as a matter of principle attack only in groups of 4 to 6 planes. If the fight gets scattered in single dogfights of 1 vs 1?s, watch that not a couple mates attacking the same enemy at the same time.

I think this is also, how many veteran players in ?AirAttack? using tactics. Still very effective and hardly to beat.
