HEXABOLIC! din j?vle svenska er det nu dig igen !!!!
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGHHHHH
Im gonna choke you
Code: Select all
Based on recent intel, submarine command believes convoy consists of munitions freighters, a high priority target that should make for good fireworks
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, Ill be quiet, cause some subbers has yet to play this...
I have had some of these very same emotions playing this campaign(Mission 8-USA).
I'm assuming we have to sink EVERY DD. Think I have gotten two several
times, but I think there are three? Or do we have to sink every ship?
Haven't beaten this one yet. I have found tho that this particular campaign is GREAT for training, since you are fighting all combat ships. This one is fun to play.
I am REALLY stuck on Imperial Mission 4 -sub. No matter how I follow the tips on that campaign, they sink my tankers every time When I charge into them to "turn them away", scoring hits, they either sink me
before I dive, or soon thereafter sink every tanker. Frustrating because
I cannot go on with my German sub missions until this is over, and this seems like it will NEVER be over hehehehe.
i'm still stuck on the same damn mission, but i keep coming up with masterplans! (all so far have failed) but that is the challenge, buy the time multiplayer comes out we should all be bloody good at this!
You have to sink (2) DD's, the ones who represent the "special class"
of Destroyer. Did this by concentrating on the left (port) section of
Desron, putting a torp towards the charging DE to deflect him, and IMMEDIATELY pivoting port to attack DD's on left side of DE.
Plenty of torp attacks and such, so you look like a bobbing doll for awhile.
Hope this helps.

Here's another suicidal mission. Of course it can be done but the chances are so slim as to make this no less frustrating than USN mission 7.
If the mission objective is solely to knock out the DDs, state so more clearly in the log messages.
Also, as in mission 7 (or was it an earlier one? - no matter), you start this mission with your sub already being fired on in a state of engagement. You should start a mission outside of the enemy's firing range, even if it's 15 seconds worth of that.
And it's totally unrealistic that only at the split second start of the mission does your crew tell you that "dems aints no moychants out dair". crazy: This is already easily noticable using binocs.
Nothing terrible would have happened if the mission would have included a sister sub to help in the attack or divert some of the enemy's attention. Or, possibly less DEs to make the fight fair.

The dilema of this mission is not whats really out there or what to sink.
Its a demonstration of how bad the intel can be.
I dont think youre specifically have to sink the DDs only.
In this mission youre sent out to sink a number or freightships, but as you close in on them you reliaze that your HQ has made a poop, and sent you after a taskforce of warships.
Unforturnaly you (your radioman) didnt notice this untill it was too late.
Well s--- happens...
You were detected. The taskforce turns around to engage you in a attempt to sink you, just like they would in real life. Now yes the odds are not good, blame the intel.
What would you do in a real life situation? Send a radio message to the enemy, telling that its not fair, that the odds arent on your side?
Some missions are hard, yes I know that, but others are soo easy that itr balances out the odds, don'cha think?
What would you have thought of the game if all the missions were as easy as scratching your left ear? Im pretty sure you would have 'complained' about that. I know I would
Which reminds me, take any other game, and you have the odds against you...
First Person Shooters, you always ends up killing 100-200 AIs
Strategies, you always end up killing in a ratio of 1:200
-Practice makes perfect

Yes, I understood the storyline.
In this mission youre sent out to sink a number or freightships, but as you close in on them you reliaze that your HQ has made a poop, and sent you after a taskforce of warships.
Unforturnaly you (your radioman) didnt notice this untill it was too late.
I wouldn't have minded a drop more realism by having the mission begin ever so slightly out of visual range and then have this bombshell news dropped on me. But it occurs the second the mission starts. You're already taking hits the second it begins.
What would you do in a real life situation? Send a radio message to the enemy, telling that its not fair, that the odds arent on your side?
Again, in real life, under these circumstances, you may just consider hoisting a white flag or going down with your ship.
Some missions are hard, yes I know that, but others are soo easy that itr balances out the odds, don'cha think?
All missions should be challenging, though it's nice to have a bone tossed at you every once in a while as a reward.
Challenging - yes. Ridiculously overwhelming? No. That's been my point all along. This is a campaign with a running story line. Players should feel that there's a reasonable potential of playing it out without getting killed even once, if they're good enough.
What would you have thought of the game if all the missions were as easy as scratching your left ear? Im pretty sure you would have 'complained' about that. I know I would
Absolutely. Again, I'm not looking for easy. Hard is fine, too. Absurdly overwhelming is inappropriate for a campaign. That's my point. It becomes more of a static maze puzzle where you get killed, go back and do it again with a variation, get killed again and keep this up until you find your way out of the maze. That's not how an FPS game campaign should work, IMO.
Which reminds me, take any other game, and you have the odds against you...

I'm not very experienced with FPS' but I'm persoanlly not interested in a shoot-em-up type of game> Nor however am I interested in the opposite extreme.

You are supposed to begin the mission out of range by about 60 seconds, in addition you are supposed to begin underwater and tracking them by hydrophone. At a distance on a stormy day you could reasonably be fooled into believing the intel.
The patch will even out some of these missions. Why? The AI received and upgrade before the US version was shipped and some of the missions became quite a bit more difficult as a result.

Immediately crash dive when the fighting begins. Manuver so you're coming at one of the destroyers from bow to stern. Rise to 20 meters and fire a spread directly at the DD's bow and then veer hard to port. Continue this process with the other vessels.

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Out of the frying pan and into the fire!?
After finally getting through USN 7, I am thrown into this mess.
Bad intel happens, I get it. Again, maybe a little more feedback to help steer the gamer in the right direction.
From the response to my last post in USN 7, it was stated that the objective (unbeknown to the gamer) was to stay alive for 15 mins.
Well, what is it for USN 8?
I just spent 34 mins jukin and jivin at depth. Everytime it seemed I was safely away, (about 1500m-2000m on B-TAC) all of a sudden a DE would turn hard and make a beeline for me. That was all fine and dandy for the first 15-20 min, after which I am like.... ok, success criteria for this mission is?....
I would have to lean toward Yellowstain's sentiments.
"It becomes more of a static maze puzzle where you get killed, go back and do it again with a variation, get killed again and keep this up until you find your way out of the maze."
Again, I like playing ERT, it is just more enjoyable when you know what your objectives are. And if you get bad intel forcing a mission change, you should be given a clue as to the proper direction of your decision making. (ie. the first officer chiming in with something like-
"sir, if we take out one of their DD/DE, maybe it will distract them just enough to let us slip away."
or
"sir, if we take out one of their DD/DE, they won't rest until we are sunk, maybe it's best we make a quiet get away."
So, batten down the hatches boys, let's giv'er another go.

I agree with the previous post...
Some campaign missions should be very easy, I mean, its not realisitic to be in combat EVERY day in Naval stuff. I was in the US Navy, and most of the time was nothing bout routine, boring stuff...everyday things.
That would make a boring campaign, but I tihnk sometimes, it would be nice to have a mission or two in a campain where NOTHING happens, just about 10-15 mins of escorting a convoy or trakcing one, and no shots fired, and you move on...

Alrighty you swarthy game designers... what gives!!?
52 minutes of being stealthy quiet, and as nimble as a tin can can be

Argh! I am starting to hate the sea and everything in it.
So, how long am I supposed to evade? I seem to recall that was supposed to be a common theme? And I think 52 mins should have done the trick?
If I encounter another mission like this one.... I think I will be shelving ERT.
I like gaming to be fun, not a source of frustration because I am not "solving the puzzle" correctly. If I wanted to solve puzzles I would play The Crystal Key
(which is also made by DreamCatcher for those of you that don't know)
I don't mind a game where you have to scrap it out to make it by the skin of your teeth. But it seems here that there is no duking it out. Either you;
1) get the drop and send them to the bottom
2) get pounded
.... or
3) you manage to stay hidden only to succumb to asphyxiation (unless you take a chance and surface... see 2 above.)
I chose easy in campaign because I wanted to play the missions and enjoy the story. If after finishng, I thought a particular mission would be more fun if it were more difficult, I could change it. Am I the only one that thinks something isn't quite right when you select EASY, and have to replay the mission over and over, and over, and over to get through it? I would expect that if I chose DIFFICULT.
Shiver me timbers! I'm going back in!! :bash:
