Any help welcomed
It's no good you will have to describe which mission it is.
1 DD, 5 DEs protecting 6 tankers from 1 u-boat 4 DEs 2 DDs
it seems like youre the only player at this mission yet.
If you post briefing, mission orders also, we might have some ideas
Use your orders on this one jammy-e.
Send the tankers far far away ('wait'), send the rest of your team (that you can order) into the fray. Hang back a little and co-ordinate. If you die, game over. As you start to make progress against the enemy, join in against the weak targets or greatest threats.
Send at least 1 DE after the u-boat (and/or assign one to protect you works well sometimes).
Good luck. I thought this was one of the hardest in the whole LFN surface campaign (except the PT boat!)

FOUL! After sinking (or causing to sink) all of the enemy forces, I expected to get the "congratulations" message, but didn't... I assigned a "wait" point to one tanker, and instructed the other three to "escort" him. Not two minutes later, two of the latter tankers collided with each other, thereby going below the "half survivor" limit and causing me to fail the mission. Foul! The AI shouldn't be so dumb as to cause you to lose the mission -- especially after having beaten such a difficult mission!

I managed to pass this mission my first try (Lucky?) And my tip is that I destroy the two DD:s at north, then I send 2-3 destroyers to the south and one to the west. Keep on fighting =)

Yeah, I've been doing exactly the same thing... I wonder why it is that you cannot give orders to all of the ships? There are two friendly combatants (DE's?) that you cannot give orders to...
For the developers: I like the game, but it is just too difficult, too often. The fun is lost when you have to attempt to conquer a level more than 5 or 6 times. It should be challenging, but this game just gets bloody annoying. I'd suggest tweaking the AI some, if you want to prevent this title from becoming an early "bargain binner". I'm willing to bet that a lot of people, especially the younger crowd, will not have the patience, and word will spread... Just my 2 cents worth.

It depends on Your rank and Their rank! Have you got higher rank than the DE/DD/Sub you want to command, is there no problem

Played this again over a few times. Simplest strategy I find is to direct all oilers as far due North as poss .then 1 DE to attack the sub , and ; Head straight at the two DEs coming from there . I leave the rest to their A1 until those two are sunk . Taking on the two DE is a good exercise . Usually at last moment turning from a frontal collision , and close range use of torpedoes . Like two torpedo lengths ! Great game !!

Okay, I beat this mission today... tried several times yesterday, only three times today.
After having wasted significant time on previous missions trying to redirect the tankers and command my DE's, I decided to just let them figure things out for themselves. I headed for the northern pair of ships, and decided to fire a spread of torpedoes in their direction from about 2 1/2 K out. I was more interested in getting them to evade so that I could take their guns off me. The tactic proved successful, and I dispached the pair of them with my guns.
Turning south, I decided to use a similar tactic on the American sub, and I started rolling depth charges about 500m out from the sub. It forced him into the depth charge line of one of the DE's who proceeded to sink him.
The remaining DE's (2 were sunk) and I fought off the southern force together and turned back for the tankers. A few minutes later, we got a confirmation that the mission was complete.

On ordering friendly vessels to waypoints / to attack / resupply etc ;
Several can be ordered at once , instead of each individually, by clicking mouse and drawing a line around the group - see Cpt Maxim's posting/report on this - somewhere ! - from which I first discovered the possibility !
.
In this mission , to save time , one of the first things I do , is ;
Order ALL to a far north-eastern point , then the six DEs which are all fairly close together , I re-direct to attack the southern enemy group .
That sub is never much of a threat , and 1 of the DEs which is equally ranked , thus unable to be ordered , sets off to attack this usually on its own initiative !
.
As I head northish/ north westish ( very nautical ) the sub often meets its end from my deck guns fire .( If lucky . )
The two DEs aproaching from north I head for , as they are more of initial threat to convoy .
.
{ On a small point : Isn't it an enemy who is *beat *or *beaten *, a mission which is *won* or *completed* ?
e.g. To win a fight . To beat an opponent . }
