This would be great for scuttling.
In fact, I've always been annoyed by the gun limitations when rotating. If you're dumb enough to fire when it's facing the bridge or deck, you deserve to be damaged.
I'd like a way to remove that, and would like that optional in Chapter 2, unless those limitations were designed into the real weapons themselves.

... unless those limitations were designed into the real weapons themselves.
You don't have to work too hard to imagine a nineteen year old kid, focused in the heat of battle, all absorbed in chasing the plane in his sights, and swiveling a .50 cal through a long arc and into the bridge while pumping out rounds.
I'd be pretty surprised if there weren't blocks incorporated in the real ones to prevent gunners shooting the structure of the ship.
Still... it'd make following straffing aircraft through their attack much easier.
Oh, by the way... Hi. I'm new (I know... "obviously").

you are correct
on mountings and turrets fitted to warships there are devices which stop the weapon from being turned in to fire at the ship
basic safety really
these are known as stops and when engaged if a weapon or mounting was on the stops it was important to let the warfare officer know in order that he/she
manouver the ship to ensure all weapons have good arcs of fire during an engagement (enemy ordnance taken into account obviously)
of course a warfare officer should always be aware of the firing arcs of all weapons and will always move according to threat bearing and navigational safety demands

Does that mean that by default they aren't engaged?
I'd like the option of engaging/disengaging them in ERT. To have the limitation written in, is paramount to an "easy" or novice setting in the game. I know not every minutae will be written in (clear moorings etc), but this is one of the more important hurdles to overcome in order to be a good gunner, and should be optional.
Just my 0.02.

in addition to that above you could damage your ship this would teach you to be careful when using the weapon

how does it teach you to be careful when using the weapon if the 2 15" shells you fire destroy the ship? u can make no mistakes lol. and about shooting planes down with the guns, you can do that on battlefield 1942 with the battleship guns.
