Tonight at 7pm on the History Channel starts a new series 'the history of the battleship' from the 19th century to present day behemoths

Before nuclear weapons there was a machine whose destructive power invoked terror in the hearts of anyone who had to face it. The machine was called the battleship and it was commander of the seas. Reaching the height of their influence in the 19th century, they demonstrated the power to decisively influence world history at the Battle of Trafalgar and continued to maintain this role up to and during World War II.
Our new four part series will explore the pivotal role they have played in global history. Beginning with the world's most famous battleship, Lord Nelson's HMS Victory, the programme will detail the development of these warships. From the sail-driven wooden fleets of the 19th century to the three-way battle for supremacy of the seas in the 21st century between the battleship, submarine and aircraft carrier.
Here you will find details about the series, as well as facts and figures on some of the most famous British ships, HMS Victory, HMS Dreadnought and HMS Hood. We are also giving you the chance to win the book that accompanies the series, The Battleships by Rob McAuley and Ian Johnston.

Sink The Bismark,HMS Belfast, the sinking of the Lusitania and the History of the Royal Navy (4 parter) are some of the cool stuff that's being covered.
I wish they'd do some more programs on the Kriegsmarine. They had an impossible job to do but managed to give as good as they got!
