Hi All,

I just thought I would mention that the mission builder in Combat Flight Simulator 2 can work as an excellent navigation tool and aid to ERT mission building. Here is a quick example.

In this example, off the Solomon Islands, I have plotted a course for my destroyer (blue) to intercept a Japanese sub (red). No complex calculations involving different speeds etc. required, the mb handles all that. And the entire globe is mapped! Want to know exactly what your course heading between Land's End and Halifax should be and how long it will take? Just draw a line between the two, enter your speed in nm's and you will have your answers. Plot shipping lanes... plot the limits of air cover... About 25 different (labeled) vessels are included, from U boats to aircraft carriers.

Neat eh?

This is pretty cool, Androo. I used to have CFS. Wish I had kept the CD now.

AdamWarren, yeah, check it out, it's a lot of fun. If you haven't used the CFS 2 mission builder before, some of it can be a little obscure and there is no manual. You very probably won't have any trouble, but if you get stuck let me know. (Not that I'm an expert on it- there are still a lot of spawn scripting functions I haven't figured out yet.) 😳

Timetraveller, hee, hee, yeah, I never part with any game, even some that I hate.

In case somebody is thinking of buying it, I just want to emphasize that the mb is included with CFS 2, not the original CFS. Also, the mission builder for CFS 3 (not included with the game, downloadable from MS) is apparently set out in a similar fashion. I haven't tried it, bit I am pretty sure that its coverage is much smaller- just Western Europe I think.

Edit: Adam, I just noticed your signature animation thing- I had to look twice. That is very cool...

lol, yeah. I love that animation.

I have read (like years ago) Cody Coyote's Campaign Building Tutorial (you can get from netwings.org). you might want to check it out. Really explains alot about mission builder. I made 5 or 6 missions for CFS2.

I have CFS3, but I enjoy CFS2 more.

Thanks for mentioning that mb tutorial- I will definitely check it out, when I can tear myself away from E:RT. Yeah, like you I've got CFS 3, but I haven't really gotten into it. Not yet anyway. But have you seen that WWI mod-in-progress for it called "Over Flanders Fields"? It looks like it will be amazing...

Yeah, I've seen that, but I'm waiting for the Pearl project for CFS2.

Right. So many good things on the horizon, so little time...
