Comandeering An Enemy Vessel

I'm certain this has been discussed before (It would have to be, it's soooo obvious!), but I can't find a thread, so here we go...

I'd love to go on a U-571-esque mission in which an emeny vessel is captured and used to attack a major asset in its own fleet like a BB or a Carrier.

There's precedent for the capture of enemy vessels (Black Cat), and there's little chance of a sole sub successfully taking on such a target alone...unless it was one of their own. >:(

Additionally, in conjunction with my request in the land thread (ability to enter and sink vessels in enemy harbours at night), you'd have the best mission in E:RT possible: Get behind enemy lines, sink the target while docked, and try to get out alive.

Possibly no response based on the summer program at TAG, we all have famalies too.

In development - the concept of capturing an enemy vessel (trophy) is not uncommon, as you rightly pointed out. The ability to capture shipping will be crucial (I beleive) in MP when resources for ports will be necessary. There is also a scenario I am working on for STH which involved capturing an enemy vessel - but with a slight twist.

Argh.

Well, despite what was lost in production, the idea seemed great to me.

Like in Destination Tokyo, it would be great to get into an enemy harbor, but to do it in an enemy sub so you could get in close to sink a docked BB would be even better.

Simply capturing an enemy vessel doesn't appeal to me much, unless I could use it against my enemies.

I'm sneaky that way.

I thought the analogy was ok given the prominance of the film.

Side issue: I was watching surfing the channels over the weekend (I think around 2am Sunday) when I caught the last of a special on the great Japanese submarines of WW2. I came in so late that the USA had already captured them and was inspecting them, when they turned and scuttled them off the coast of Japan somewhere as the first real act in the Cold War.
