Tides of War

thought I would post this as it might help others because in my case it was soooo easy once I found it.

I was not having problems with ERT not recognizing my commands, my problem was that the crew had a mind of their own. they were depth charging the empty ocean, engaging targets that I did not authorize, etc...it was maddening.

I tried everything (or so I thought). bought a better headset, downloaded new drivers, set my acc to basic, trained the speech recognition at least a dozen times, learned Aesop's fables by heart, etc...etc...

nothing solved it until I rotated the microphone above my nose. It is kind of weird, but I have it up by my glasses. I then use the speech wizard to configure the microphone level every time before I play...and that did it!!!

My crew now are following orders precisely, every time...and they no longer have minds of their own...I have played four straight missions today with NO bad commands, NO actions that I didn't order, etc...

I figure it was my breathing that was causing all the problems. even putting the mic off to the side of my mouth didn't help, only when I put it above my nose. I figure is was the breathing sounds from my nose that was causing the false commands.

If you have similar problems, give this a try...don't forget to run the speech wizard/configure microphone before you run the game to get the mic level set right.

Maybe you had the mic boost on, to be picking up that much strong breathing.. a similar problem on hot muggy days is when you aim the fan in your window towards yourself while playing, will cause similar problematic results.

No I didn't have the mic boost on, but it must have been picking up enough to cause my problems. At any rate, it was the last thing I thought about...should have been the first!
