The Story Line Is So Unrealistic

ok' date=' ive played Destroyer command, silent hunter 2, great games, this one ?????.
The story is so fake, the british, if such a loss would have happened they would have not just ran away. if they lost 10 ships, and retreated to harbour the situation would be similar to what the british did BLOCKADE, But after the repairs both sides would have done there would be an even battle. Why did they have to choose such a story path. in the "fantasy" story the american become a world super power when at the time there navy was small. to make things worse, the navy runs away leaving everyone behind and runs to asia???. why not africa, what happens to the french navy??? Runs to vietnam. This story line is a joke to any educated person. What happens  to the british empire, well i assume that it just disapears to the germans, because they always win. canada well it gets invaded by the Americans. GOD. you do this to a nation who pride is based on the navy, rich in history, lost its dominance in 1942. second lagest today and you do this to the british people! why did they have to mix jappeneese and british flags? just because they are allies? even if 24 capital ships ran to asia they would be so superior to the japeneese. To make things worse the story describes American expansion into british asain territory and german exapansion through africa to asia. ********* ****************** ok if this happened to americans and german would take a beating if anything it would be the other way around. maby american expansion but german? to finish this off there is a link below showing nael comparisions at the time

Yeah i can't believe how fake the fictitious story line is. they should throw this game in the garbage and go take some history classes. /sarcasm.
I have no problem with the story; it is a game !
For me the action/gameplay is more important than the story (historic correctness)
Oh come on HMS Canada it's a flippin GAME!  It doesn't profess to be a historical simulation does it!  The whole point of an ALTERNATIVE TIMELINE is that it isn't the same as the real one!  For god's sake!
Why the tirade?
As long as it is feasible then it is perfectly legitimate for a the game.

Key bits:

US does not get involved in WW1 either militarily or financially.

The UK and France collapse as their resources run out. Germany dominates Europe completely.

Remaining British forces make for the strongholds of the British Empire (Fortress Gibraltar' date=' Australasia and Hong Kong). Which do not have the resources to maintain the fleet alone.

US starts applying its muscle in the new power vacuum left by the fall of Europe. This would make all its neighbours very nervous.

A low on resources Ex British Empire and a nervy Japan join forces to produce a power block big enough to intimidate the US into staying where they are.

Seems reasonable to me.[/quote']
Have you tried to read about the game before you critise it?
I doubt that...

How can you say its a 'dumb' story? are you completely (censored word).

If you had paid some attention buddy' date=' you would notice:

A: Its an ALTERNATIVE history

B: Its a DIFFERENT world.

Games doesnt have to follow history 100% not even 10%.

Do you think you can mention 10 games is 100% history accurate?

How boring would it be to play a game when you know how it will end, it would be like reading a book. where you read the last page before the first!.

One of the things that makes Enigma different and IS the storyline.

Its like reading a science fiction book, or watching a movie.

Before you starts flaming about a game, you should get to know it, and what behind it.

I simply cant tolerate people that bitches over things they have no clue about.[/quote']
HMS Canada' date=' thanks for posting your take on our story.
When we sent out early copies of the game for review by PC Gamer UK and PC ZONE UK, they had the same problem.  Didn't review the game, just the storyline.  Everywhere else the game got reviewed we get 75 to 90, those 2 magazines gave us scores in the 50's.

They also made the same mistakes with the storyline that you have.  America isn't a "Super Power" in our storyline.  Events kept the USA out of the war.  She focused on commercial and internal growth.  America doesn't invade Canada (though it would be an interesting event) and King George V was a Navy man, if circumstances were such that the island was going to be lost, the very first thing he would have done was try to ensure that there would be a way back.  You of course know that the Kaiser was a Royal yes?  Lots of reasons to want Britain and reasons to keep her intact.

We did a substantial amount of research on the period before we began the story.  Including the great link you provided.  We wanted to find a departure point (you'll find this on our website - www.warfleet.net) that, when combined with other things could have potentially caused the USA to stay out of WWI.  This combined with other events could quite easily have put the UK in a tight spot.  No Russian revolution, no Japanese Militarist Coup.

I agree with you on the LFN Flag btw - it is meant to be a symbol of the League (like a Nato flag or something).  It was our working model and became the defacto flag.

I want to say that there is a large amount of story that has not been completed and posted up to better fill in the details, such as what happened to the various fleets (France's Navy belongs to Germany as do the Dutch and Italian Fleets for example).

BTW, the only educated person who would find our storyline to be a joke would be someone who didn't know the whole story and never looked deep into world history.  Many things in our world would be different if a couple of very minor things at important times did or didn't happen.
