I have really big problems sinking SUB's with my depth charges. I try to run over them and releasing depth charges. I have tried severla ways but no luck. Run over release at 20 feet turned arround run over release 55 feet, turned arround run over 90 feet, turned arround run over release 150 feet but never sunk a demn SUB.
Can anyone help?

It's tha sema question not an answer!
i too am having trouble with the depth charges. that like just sends me to the tips&tactics forum maybe if you know of a specific thread you could link.
I have tried and tried the aproach same as in the link I got 20-55-90-150 feet in a chane but the sub just slides along!!! This part i to hard I think if there is no easier way!!!
Giving up soon.......I know wining wining wining, but I'm desperate to sink a sub!!
How do you drop a chain of charges at different depths? Do you have to click a depth wait for 2 charges for fire, click cease, then a different depth, etc, or is there a way or pre-programming the chain?
I have managed to hit a few subs by dropping roughly on top of and then ahead of them, but it really seems like pot luck...
Never managed to get a hit with a hedgehog though... what is their firing range and max depth (if there is one)?
It seems like pot luck because it is as far as depth is concerned. Also you must try to drop the charges where the submarine is going to be if it continues at current course and speed. Obviously you will also have to pre empt any turns the enemy might take. I took some advice from someone probably jesper, about dropping higher first then as I flank away drop the deeper charges which take longer to get to the right depth to explode.
Hope this is of some help but Im no expert,
Archer
The trick to depth charges is to remember that you are dropping a drum full of explosives that only falls so fast (we used the real speeds that you can find on the web). You always have to lead the sub when it is moving. You also need to be sure to make your run at 1/3 if you aren't CERTAIN that the sub is moving.
You have to out think the submarine commander - what would you do - what is he trying to do. Is he trying to manuever for a shot (and is staying relatively close to the surface) or is he trying to get away from you? Is he trying to hide?
The slower you go the better location information you get (relative to his speed). If the sub is stopped, deep drop the crap out of the last known location (the one showing on the tactical).
It takes practice
I find the best tactic is to slowly sneak up on the bugger watch him move, see what he's doing and then drop a few 50m depth charges, keep an eye on him and see how he responds.
Usually you'll need to aim ahead of the bugger and guess as to weather hs's going to turn. My personal tactic is to "cross the T" as it were, by sailing a course directly across the path of where i think he's heading. That way if he turns he's still going to get a barrel full of TNT.
Hope that helps.
Carry on!

You can fire different patterns at different depths, i'm not sure if you can stop a pattern mid-evolution, why don't you try it? In answer to your second question i don't think it's possibe to pre-program depth charges. How do you drop a chain of charges at different depths? Ok guys
sorry but maybe I am being really thick here.
If I click say the 55 button, I assume that a pattern of DCs are dropped that will go off at that depth...
In the manual it says "when you are commanding a corvette carrying only dc racks, you will be able to drop them in pairs, and even select varying depths for each pair for up to four pairs before the rack reloads".
This last point is what I was getting at... How do I say drop the first two at 55, the next two at 95 and the next 4 at 150?
Thats what I have been trying but there seems to be a bit of a delay before the DCs are ready again after using cease.
I was just wondering if this is the official way of doing it...
I seem to recall that the reload time is around somewhere between 30-60 secs however the couple times I played on the surface, I kinda found out that if you drop them at 20 first you dont have such waiting time, as if you start to drop them deeper ( dont know if it counts for the retail, I have touched a ship yet (except with torpedos from my sub)
The higher you drop them the faster the next pattern seems to be ready. Full reloading takes about 45 seconds and is a seperate delay to the one between drops.
Archer
I've not noticed that one Archer but I'll pay attention.
Regarding "Cease" I use it when I want a quick spread drop 4 or 6 at a depth, cease the deployment - there's a short pause, and the drop at a new depth.
Also depth charges will explode on contact so actually in theory I think you set it for deeper charge if you are moving too fast, just like leading the target. This is why when I set my charges for 200 it usually hit the enemy sub at only 60m deep.
Depth charges will NOT explode on contact.
I assume you drop at 200 and see that the sub is killed 60m away right?
That 60 is only a horizontal measurement and does not take depth into account.
DOH! I cant wait for the multiplayer people will just keep changing depth and avoid the charges
Besides anyword on the effect of depth charge, whether it affects depth below and above those assigned to it. I hope it around +-30m otherwise I might need at least 100 depth charges to get a sub
I believe that is the essence of sub tactics!DOH! I cant wait for the multiplayer people will just keep changing depth and avoid the charges
Btw when a sub changes its depth does it creates the air bubble seen on the surface or is that just from the initial dive from the surface.
Each time a submarine makes an emergency dive or an emergency surface he leaves above him a generous air bubble amount. Note that these manoeuvrings allow the submarine to change of depht very very quickly, unfortunatly for the destroyer commanderBtw when a sub changes its depth does it creates the air bubble seen on the surface or is that just from the initial dive from the surface.. Also I note that the Enigma IA uses everytime this way to change of depht. But almost everytime the surface bubbles doesn't indiquate the position of the submarine, because of the time the bubble have to go surface. If you are a mathematic champion, you can guess the depht of a submarine knowing his position on the hydraphone and his speed with the bubble position. All the best !
I personaly gets excited with these @#% submarines. I need hundreds and hundreds depht charges
If you can catch them at a shallow depth (i.e. Making surface bubbles) then you have got a good chance on hitting them before they go too deep. If you can sail over the surface bubbles at set d.o.d.at 20 metres will get them every time (well nearly) and if the bubbles have recently (
In real life a DC had to explode within 20ft of the hull to do damage.
E:RT warrants quite a large radius that will do damage when they explode. I've rolled charges at 35m and had a kill at 73m, don't know how i managed that?
jammy-E using the Voice Commands you can set depth charges to whatever you like....I think it is incorprated as i'm constantly getting DC at 200m when max depth for DCs is 150m.
"SET CHARGES" where is a three digit number
eg
SET CHARGES ONE EIGHT ZERO
SET CHARGES TWO ONE TWO
SET CHARGES ZERO ZERO SEVEN
but don't forget the deeper you set the longer it takes for the charges to reach trigger depth so you have to get luckier at predicting the behaviour of the sub.
Personally I don't think there should be a safe depth for the sub drivers, there's no safe place for the surface ships to go.
Go deep, go silent and you'll probably be able to break off combat to make your escape if it gets too hot!
Good hunting,
Rip
Tracer I think the 'reported kill distance' is horizontal rather than vertical.I've rolled charges at 35m and had a kill at 73m don't know how i managed that?
Rip
You have to be really careful when setting DC depth using voice commands I've discovered that if you accidentally set too high a depth (like saying SET CHARGE DEPTH TWO FIVE ZERO) or if the game misinterprets your command then the charges explode as soon as they hit the surface! I've killed myself twice before due to this. I wish they'd designed the game so that if you set over the maximum depth for the charges they just sink to their max depth then explode...
HAHAHAA! i HAVE to give that one a try! nice one
anyone tried launching torpedoes at too greater depth? the bell goes and the XO warns you but if you repeat it they just carry out the order and scuttle the boat!
I have also found that an utterance of "f**k it" when i spot something unwelcome heading my way launches the bow torpedo totally giving away my position!
makes me think that it has been programmed to ruin your mission if you swear! good work my friends!
