howdy, ive had e:rt for bout a month, im just real confused about some of the things in this forum, like how the ranking system works and the groups....any way ...howdy...and

When you post messages in this forum, your total message count raises the rank next to your name and avatar symbol.. but you dont want to go around posting messages which are unnecessary, un-meaningful, or not-well-thought-out, duplicates or anything like that just to increase your rank and message totals..

The groups you are referring to might be simply the various message forum areas for seperate topics.. or maybe you are referring to the various players signature graphics designating their squad, or individualistic artwork at the bottom of their message posts.. these are personal preference for the most part.. if you join a group, you will probably be given some logo to put into your signature to display.

how do you join a group, and what are some of the groups?

Where it say's "Group: Captains" on the left of this post basically means I am part of the public. If you look around you will notice members with things like "TOW STAFF" or "ADMIN." These people are the administrators of the forum or perhaps part of the development team for Enigma.

Capt Maxim was referring to guilds, squads or clans which you would join by either posting a thread in the forum "CAPTAINS QUARTERS" or by sending a private message (PM) to someone in a guild. To send a PM there is a button under each post. Simply find a post by the person you wish to contact and click the PM button.

if the multiplayer hasnt come out yet then how could there be guilds?

There are a few squads/clans around... they usually have the logo at the bottom of their post, or they use an avatar symbol, just like the animated flag graphic next to my name. If you are registered and logged into the forum, you will see the graphics, but if not, get registered today, its free.

Some squads are filled with cranky old navy men that have been around so long they have barnacles growing in their ears.. and some are filled with noobies who know nothing about the navy, but just want to goof around and shoot things..

Some squads choose to play LFN, IGN, or USA only, some might play more than one, which may or may not be possible, or desirable once multiplay is released, it all depends, and some squads are on a "wait and see basis" to decide.

Once you have spent some time getting to know people and participating in the forums, you might find one group of people who plan on playing the same faction that you will choose to play in multiplay, or find some other common ground (or water) that attracts you to them. Either way you will need to get used to them and their ways of doing things, and they will need to interview you to see if you have what they are looking for in a squad member..

Single player competitions may begin where everyone competes for themselves, or it may have a feature that groups are also ranked and averaged.. so you have lots to consider. Do a lot of reading and practice the game til you master it so that you will perform well whichever situation you choose.
