Enigma:missions - Graphical Mission Editor

#1
Build 299 of the ENIGMA:Missions graphical mission editor for Enigma: Rising Tide is up. This is most likely the final version of the editor.

Build 299 fixes a serious problem in the Objective Groups/Victory Conditions deletion routines, and incorporates some enhancements which I think you'll like. See the update history section, below.

Install over top the previous build.

NOTE: Left-click the download zip link on the editor page. Download managers usually won't work on this server as an intermediate page is loaded.

You need to read the notes below and the readme.txt file. The readme.txt file can be found in the install folder.

Hope you have fun with it. It's been fun writing this editor for you guys. Thanks particularly to East of Tesseraction Games for the help he has offered. ENIGMA:Missions represents about 10,000 lines of code and 200 hours of time.

THE PROGRAM

-----------------------------------------

ENIGMA:Missions is a home-grown graphical mission editor for the Enigma: Rising

Tide naval combat simulator. It will enable you to create your own missions of

various complexity and run them on the game.

ENIGMA:Missions is freeware, and is not to be sold. Feel free to host the zip

file on your site if you wish. As a courtesy, send me an e-mail and let me know

you are hosting it. Current e-mail: timetraveller@bellsouth.net.

-----------------------------------------

INSTALLING ENIGMA:Missions

-----------------------------------------

Unzip the downloaded file and click on the setup.exe to install ENIGMA:Missions.

Install may be done over top any pre-existing ENIGMA:Missions installation.

ENIGMA:Missions is written in Visual Basic 6 and should run on most modern

systems from Windows 98 on. You will need at least the Microsoft VB6 SP5 runtime

files installed (which you probably already have). Turn off your anti-virus for

the install. As always, be sure to virus check any file beforehand.

ENIGMA:Missions makes no modifications to your existing Enigma: Rising Tide

installation or its registry items, beyond the saving of the created mission.

-----------------------------------------

GETTING STARTED

-----------------------------------------

ENIGMA:Missions creates the mission-x.ems file for you. That's all. You,

yourself, must make any and all modifications to your index.pkg file and

CustomPatrols.cgn file so that the game will recognize your mission folder and

mission file(s). See the document provided by the game manufacturer for

instructions on how to do this.

ENIGMA:Missions, the graphical mission editor for Enigma: Rising Tide, is now available.

See the top of this thread.

I'd like to give a big thanks to East for answering my never-ending questions, particularly for taking the time for that nearly hour long phone consultation we had. Without his help this editor would not have been possible. Thanks East!

TOWF--

If you are around, I lost all your information in the server update. Sorry I couldn't get back to you. If you guys at Tides of War want to put the editor zip up on your site, feel free to do it.

Use your eyes, along with Windows Explorer, and open up ERT's "missions" folder. There you'll find the documents mentioned here that will give you the detailed instructions.

NOTE: Playing custom missions requires ERT's Gold edition CD or the original version updated with the Gold upgrade patch. And for Gold edition CD owners, there's a mini-patch that enables the use of custom missions.
