Ha har me harties
What with all the varying concerns over the upcoming patch being on the portly side.

What would be the problem with someone putting it through a bacon slicer and hosting it in their internet butchers window as a string of bangers rather than a whole side of pig Image

Then just download small bits and then glue it back together on their own machine, most archive packages allow you to do that.

I for one have dial up at the mo' would welcome that.

Just a thought!

must get back to work now
Good idea.  I'd be wondering about patch DL over dial-up too...  I'm sure I heard in the 'sacred halls of jabber' suggestions that the patch may well be available at some point from fileplanet where you can also get it on CD....
I know that the 'old' pkzip (dos based) would allow you to split a file zip (disk spanning it was called) across many floppies.  You could then use pkunzip to stitch them back together.

There must be similar utils out there today?
WinRAR, WinZIP, any file archiever can do it ;)
And for you guys on dialup Ill host it for you 5 users per session 5x5K leaves me 5 to play with (max is 30) :( and if you like I can split it up in *.RAR format also :)
How large is this patch file?
I am on dialup and I have DL up to 90 meg patch before, but it took a long time.

56k is all I can get where I live but one day they will have something else out here I am trusting! :?

Spoot
the final build of the patch will most likely be around 90-100 MB.
Yepper, that is one Big patch!
Spoot
Tee Hee
Maybe I'll D'load it at work on nightshift

Then burn it to CD

What who me surely not  :!:
Any chance of the patch appearing on magazine coverdiscs? as i am still on a stone age internet connection!
