Some Observations

Wow, great fun this is. Some observations and questions.

1. Editing by hand is tedious. Very prone to error without a GUI editor. And when you have an error, you crash to desktop before the game fully loads. Any chance of an error log being generated, maybe in a future patch, so we can see what's wrong?? Or maybe it's available now by changing some parameter?? I don't see one.

2. I can get the battleships in the game and they fight using the AI. Okay, fun for sure. However, I can't seem to drive one when I place it first in the ship list for my task group (#1). A sub always comes up instead. Are they not manable by the player when creating missions?

Please, we need a couple of more mission examples.

Thanks!

1) We will be releasing a testing tool to show you what is wrong in your missions BEFORE you try it in game. We will also be releasing a NON-Graphical editing tool in the (relatively) near future.

2) Taskforce #1 is always the players task force and should only ever have 1 (one) TS line (ship). You should be able to drive it IF you have completed a campaign for that side. If not, it will default to a (usually) Sub.

Thanks for your reply, East. I'll probably have more questions as I learn. Hope it's okay to bug you guys in here with them. Congrats on a great job with the Gold patch.

By the way, I seem to be able to have more than one ship in task force #1. I had 10 a little while ago (2 battleships, 4 destroyers, 3 corvettes, and a DE), fighting task force #2 consisting of a squadron of 9 fighters/bombers attacking them. It was fun too! Probably I should split task force #1 up into two taskforces, 1 and 9, with the 9 following the 1?

Makes perfect sense now. Thanks.

1. Right now I'm having trouble triggering objective events. Getting confused between OS, OA and TO. When to use each, etc. For practice I'm trying to trigger a successful end (with messages) to a simple location change, i.e. moving ships from A to B.

2. Also what is the actual trigger mechanism for message types 1, 2, 3 for T and O messages. I'm thinking these are automatically generated depending on situation. Any tips would be a big help.

Thanks.
