Hey guys,
I just got Enigma: Rising Tide ("International Gold Edition") and I've installed the game without any hassle. However, I can't find the option where I invert the mouse Y-axis? Right now, I can't use the game since I can't use the controls I'm used to, so I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give me!
Kind regards,

Hi Jesper,There is currently no "Invert Mouse" feature, but if I'm not mistaken then it is on the TODO list. However you dont really need the mouse that much if you have a microphone
thank you for your quick reply. So - there is no "invert mouse"-option altogether?? That was... really surprising (not to say disappointing, since it leaves me with a game I really can't enjoy).
As far as the voice recognition goes - it works fairly well, considering that it seems to neglect my default, personal Windows XP voice recognition profile. I've trained it myself quite a bit - however when I check the Control Panel, it seems as if Enigma has added a second, new profile called "SAPI Developer Sample Engine" -which doesn't use my old and trained profile. Really strange.
By the way - are you associated with Tesseraction Games in any way?

To my knowledge there isnt any enigma.exe -option.
To enjoy it or not, isnt it just a matter of getting used to the mouse isnt inverted?
Enigma does use MS Windows default speech engine.
If you have installed the EnigmasAPI from the CDROM you should see a "Speech" icon in your Control Panel.
From there you should change the input device to use your Soundcard's Wave Device, and run through one or two of the training sessions. Since you have trained the Speech Engine allready, I would think that one should be enough.
I have no idea what the "SAPI Developer Sample Engine" is, I havent recieved my Gold yet, its not something that ships with the older versions of E:RT
But I would suspect that if it came with E:RT then its so players can create their own crew voice respones.
No I am not associated with Tesseractiongames anymore than you are
Im merely a long time player and Administrator at www.tidesofwar.net where TAG has their official forums, and I talk with Kelly 'East' Asay now and then on Jabber Instant Messenger.

again - thank you for taking the time and effort to answer my question. Hopefully, this thread will remain in this forum for a while so that others with similar questions will get the same help I get.
As far as the inverted mouse goes - no, I'm afraid isn't not just a matter of undoing what I've learned. Ever since I switched from DOOM to QuakeWorld as my favorite FPS-game, I have used inverted mouse (and that was back in 1997 or so). You just don't undo seven years of practice in a few days - and frankly, I don't really feel that once game should force me into doing it, either. I'm a both amazed and a bit disappointed that such a basic feature is actually missing altogether in a game that is released in 2004. Anyway, I'll stick to the (very cool) voice recoginition until that next patch is released.
Now, about the voice recognition procedure. I'm using Windows XP Service Pack 2, so I already have Microsoft's Speech Recognition Engine installed. I've trained it for primarily for using it with Unreal Tournament 2004 (and its "Capture the Flag"-mode). It works like a charm - however, when installing Engima Rising Tide: Gold Edition, the game also installed something called "SAPI Developer Sample Engine", which seems to be the component Enigma is using for speech recognition. So far, I havn't seen any options at all learning SAPI what my own, default and personally trained Windows XP speech profile already knows. I find it really strange that Engima is implementing a method of its own, instead of falling back to the system default speech recognition software that is already installed.
On average, though, the speech recognition works really well - especially considering I havn't been able to train it at all. The only thing it doesn't comprehend is the "set rudder"-command. When I clearly say "Set Rudder Two Zero Port", it usually ends up with a 45 degree port turn. However, if I was to say "Set Course Zero Two Zero", Engima would understand it and adjust the heading to 020 degrees. Weird.
Oh. I have one final question, if that's OK (although a bit off topic). I've read that there is no multiplayer component included in the Gold Edition (and I have been unsuccesful in finding one, too). Now, when browsing the Engima web site, it says that a free add-on working for a full month will be available "Christmas". I take it that they mean this Christmas (December 2004)? I'm sorry if it sounds all stupid, but I have to admit I'm a bit confused about the multiplayer modes. When I quit the Gold Edition, there's a brief credit at the end sequence acknowleding someone for their work with the multiplayer-part of Engima. Still, I can't find any avidence that I can actually go online with it.

Unfortunately, the fortunes of being a small company have caused our multiplayer plans to regularly take a back seat to funding requirements. There is no multiplayer currently.
We are re-working the engine right now and developing the multiplayer product. It is once again our main thrust.

Just put the mouse in your left hand then or turn it 180 degrees aroundAs far as the inverted mouse goes - no, I'm afraid isn't not just a matter of undoing what I've learned. I know what you mean, its like being used to ALT+A marks all files and F2 to rename a file, and suddenly some new application uses those combinations to something else.
As I said before, Enigma uses MS sAPI 5.1 (same as the one that ships with WindowsXP), the other icon must be for something else, and I would love to tell you what, but I dont know at the moment, and Im suprised that East didnt mention it.Now, about the voice recognition procedure. Regarding the commands not being properly executed as you speak, can be due to your settings "Accuracy vs Performance" and the other thing that I cant remember the name of sliders in the Speech settings in the Control Panel..
Maybe you have a weird funny accent or speaks too fast or slow.. happens to me too sometimes, mostly on the commands "Rudder", "Heading" and "Course" other times I catch myself saying "Port" instead of "Starboard"

well - what you guys lack in multiplayer, you seem to catch up on support.

Timeline I can't say. We still have several serious hurdles to clear before we have open field. I promise to announce a timeline as we get a clear idea of it.
As for product: It will be available as a standalone box, POSSIBLY as an add-on patch (this depends on the extent of the rewrite)+box, and as a FREE download (client) to anyone who wants it.

You may ask anything you want to
ETA on MP is since I was last informed from now to ? hehe
The MP client will be a fully standalone client that doesnt require the SP.
Rumours says that the Standalone client will be ~700MB (a full CD), but only ~50-100MB if you have any SP CD.
