is it me or have the LFN ranks changed after the patch? if they havnt then they have been wrong all along, if they are based on RN ranks then the lowest officer, i believe, is a sub-lieutenant, not a midshipman. welcome any comments, corrections or questions on this.

Nope, lowest is a Midshipman. Strictly speaking, a midshipman is not really an officer as they don't hold a Queen's Commission - they are an officer-in-training.

However, they are billeted in officers' quarters and permitted in the Wardroom. They are also are called "sir" (albeit in a very condescending manner) by a Warrant Officer (the most senior rating).

This is a change in a recent patch (I forget which one). Before the correction, an LFN Captain was junior to a US Captain - an intolerable inaccuracy, I'm sure you'll agree

ok so they dont hold a commision but are on their way - learn something new and all that. however the rank braid hasnt been altered to reflect this - ie a captain has one thick stripe as opposed to the 4 that he should have. what does a midshipman have as im not to hot on the navy ranks. keep the captain equality tho lol

I wondered about that too . I knew the patch changed ranks .

But does that mean it was not exactly correct before . Or did the RN change ranking sometime after 1937 .

Anyway . the old commodore.second class. didn't sound good . !

A Mid would not have command of any type of vessle except a launch of somthing of that size certanly not a corvett or sub

Yes . a midshipman seems unlikely to be in command ,,,but it's a game ,,,and ,,, what if all the other higher ranks died ...and only he knew how to !

Likewise a USN Ensign

Certainly, if you go back far enough, it was not unusual for a Midshipman to get a command - take C.S. Forester's Hornblower for example (fiction but historically pretty accurate, more so than Pirates of the Carribean).

So wouldn't you suppose that in alternate history some things may be compensated so that you're able to work your way from the bottom to the top?

ok i can see what you guys are saying however wether or not a midshipman commands a ship doesnt really bother me that much but the epulattes being wrong does. all of the rank slides are incorrect being one higher than they should be. can this pleaseeeeee be fixed before gold update is released.
