Resupply Needed More Often In Random Patrols..

Resupply Needed More Often In Random Patrols..

Out of 66 campaign missions (11 surface plus 11 submarine for each of the 3 factions) how many total missions offer the option for resupply?

In the Patrols, Tactical or Training missions, I cannot seem to find any.

The Combat patrols seem to be a mirror of the campaign missions.. is this correct? And if so, then there would be one or two missions maybe that allow resupply during those missions.

So does anyone want to see the "re-play" value of the game altered to give the distinguished commander the ability to keep on fighting after expending all his ammo ?

Would this change your mind on how the game-play feels knowing you would have to plan a strategic retreat in order to re-supply safely ? For subs this means silently slipping away from DD's.. and for Ship captains, it means leaving a pinned down sub to come back for it later? Should there be a penalty for taking resupply, or a bonus? A significant penalty in loss of time, or less?

When there are significant odds against you, you may be able to take down enough of the enemy on first contact, but not necessarily all of them, so why let that play value go to waste?

Are there any situations of sub vs ship, sub vs plane, or ship vs ship, etc that are impossible to slip away from? How is this handled currently or how would it have to change?

OK, got it. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.. Here's a screenshot of my sub docking with two oilers.. (I wonder if I was getting loaded twice as fast since I was between two of them?)

(edit: this is a quote from the readme file.. I should have read it more closely)
Re-supply functions: players can now call for re-supply during the course of a mission. Player locates supply vessels on radar, and then assumes command, from there player specifies location that the vessel is to follow. Once the re-supply point is reached, pull up next to the supply ship and stop.  Wait for the radio signal that the re-supply process has begun.  If you are attacked, the re-supply will be interrupted.  Different ships provide specific types of supply:
Tankers- fuel.

Merchants- ammo and repairs.

Oilers- ammo, fuel, and repairs.
Also, call me ignorant, but I wasnt thinking the term "OILER" would be a place to try and resupply my torps.. I was thinking that "tankers" or "merchants" and "oilers" were for some reason, just another target drone for the enemy.. doh! So now I know to look for these more often.. =)

Today I have tried to resupply during a "Tactical" patrol..

I was operating an FFL - USA anti-sub patrol boat..

An Oiler was called and he approached the rendevous point I ordered.. but the sea was heavy and while he was rising and falling with the waves I kept getting two messages "Docking.." and "Docking interupted.." Eventually I had to position my ship across the bow of the Oiler to get him to stop drifting away.. even though this caused some metal grinding between our ships, neither of us sank.

I understand stormy weather would interfere with normal operations, but this is not the end of the story. While sitting and wondering how long this would take, I saw my fuel begin to rise.. but not my health (best armor & speed require full health!)

After calling over a few merchants and waiting to see what they would do.. I decided to log out after getting no health from any of the ships. I was about 50% health the whole time..

So is there a limit to getting armor repaired while on a mission even though fuel and ammo will be replenished to 100% ??

I am thinking I might have been grinding away as much health as I was recieving the whole time for a net balance of no progress.
