Regarding German Destroyer Escort

Sorry if this message has come up before...
But does anyone else think that the German Destroyer Escort looks like an true life american one.
I remember seeing a picture of an old 4 piper - think it was Reuben James - not the one in the Tom Clancy books. Anyway, they look very similar.
