Patch Etc.

1--Did not see a "read me" file for the patch.  What did the patch fix?
Probably is stated somewhere but I did not see it.  Is there any explanation anywhere?  Is the patch automatically downloaded into the game after I download it?

2--I keep getting the "Virtual Memory Too Low" message when E:RT

shuts down.  An MS Dos screen on desktop followed by this message.

How can I eliminate this message?

3---The game runs choppy SOMETIMES, and the game will freeze,

then "hop".  It may be my imagination, but happens when the game

is first played, seems to be minimized(but not go away) in subsequent

campaigns.  Have 1GHZspeed; 256 RAm; Gforce 2; and accelerator turned

off.  PIII etc.  Again, prob. a discussion of this, some of which I read,

but after accelerator turn down still chops(sound, picture, images jump)

etc..  Will be increasing RAM soon to 1024, do I need Gforce4?
1: patch is for the gigex release from last year.
2: increase your virtual memory

3: buy more ram and a GF4 Image :D

3a: try play in 800x600 (if you arent allready).
Thx so how do I increase my virutal memory?  I need direction such matters, sorry.  Running in 800x600.
Just for curiosity sake, why would I NEED more RAM and Gforce4?

It seems the game should run smoothly on minimum requirements,

and way smooth with better.  Will the game be choppy until I upgrade

these things?

Thanks for your help.
What OS are you running?
WindowsXP:

Start->Settings->Control Panel->System->Advanced->Performance->Settings->Advanced->Virtual Memory->Change.

It is by the wise men reccomended that you set it 50% over your physical memory but I found better performance going 100% over.

For 256MB RAM set the Initial and Maximum size to 512 then click set and click ok, ok and ok.

I wasnt saying that you should buy more and a new GF4, it was meant kinda like for fun Image

However, it would be a good idea.

There can be several reasons why your computer, lags on ERT, even you outruns the minimum specs by miles.

1: Something you have installed that constanly uses CPU time, RAM cycles, Harddisk access (read/write)

2: Some background service that does the same as above

3: Some DLL files causing issues

4: Old drivers

5: Windows swap/page file (if you never changed it, you will notice a HUGE increase, cause you now prevents windows from constantly adjusting it).

6: etc etc the list is long.

Note, next time you format your drive and reinstalls windows, then try play ERT beefor you install too much crap Image

I run a geo 2 also and the game runs pretty good but I noticed it like RAM so for the best bang for the buck, increase your Ram I only have 256 Ram myself. I'm gonna put another stick in soon.

a good memory freing program and a background program killer like enditall helps alot too and you can find them for free.
That's exactly the application i am looking for! however i can't find it!
got an Url Argon?

on another note

i tried running in 800x600 last night and suffered no crashes! however the game wasn't nearly as pretty!

so.... how much performance is lost in 1024x768? and why does it crash at that res?

im running...

Pentium IV 1.7Gz

256 Ram

G force III

Soundblaster card (dunno which but less than 2 yrs old)

latest drivers etx

Direct x 9 (i think)
Hello Thompsen
You can find End it All here....

http://www.pcmedixwebs.com/enditall.htm

Good Hunting!
@Thompsen
The next patch will have some resolution fixes included guess you have to wait and see if your problem is fixed along them others Image
I wait with bated breath!
for the time being...is the resoloution issue to do with what res windows is running in? so can i run windows at 800x600 and the game at 1024x768?
Well I will get BUSY with some of this stuff.  RAM has been procrastinated
for some time now, will get that done.  Jesper, thanks for the tips on

overall puter unclogging.  Argon me friend, will check out those sites and

programs.  Thanx all!

just when I thought it was safe to go in the water.....

Guys
I believe your crashing problems can be cured with more RAM.

I run the game at 1280 X 1024 res and have never had it crash once!

My processor is a Pent 3 800MHz with a GeForce2 Ti video card running on WinXP Pro.

My RAM is 768 Mb's and it seems to handle just about any thing I can throw at it.

RAM is so cheap now that it's really one of the best investments you can make to improve your game.

Hi im new to E:RT and have had the same problem  Is there an issue with the game crashing out at anything above 800x600?

Im running Athlon 1.2 GHz cpu,512 mb pc133 ram, with 64mb 3d hurc 2,  Latest drivers ect, ect. and ill be playing the (fantastic grafics) then bang the game go's strait to desk top.

My brother has had the same problem and he's running 3 gig Athlon with a new G Force FX card no problem in 800x600 but anything higher and it jumps to the desk top every so often. Image
Woody yes there is a problem, and it will be fixed for the patch that awaits just around the corner.
I remember East saying there was a 'string error' at and above 1600x1200 but not below that as far as i know?
I have had some occasional dumps to desktop right in the middle of a longlong mission Image (pity you can't save at least once during a mission)

It would be good if the game generated a crash-log -both to help the dev's and *me*
Howdy All
You shouldnt need more ram or memory, to fix an error or a crash prob, nor should you need to go out and buy yours self a geforce 4 to run Rising Tide, if you have the money to buy this hardware, well and good.

It does make things alot smoother, but wulfgar, 1ghz cpu power, should be more than enough to run the game, just thought id post a reply to your post.
