I sorta had a brain fart, and with it, I thought of a interesting idea in MP. For all I know, the awesome dev team has probably already thought of this. But I think it would be cool if merchant shipping in MP had an effect on your faction. By this I mean that if you escort a friendly convoy to one of your ports, then your faction should be able to gain a few more resources, allowing it to support more powerful weapons at war at any given time. So instead of your factoin only having 8 Battleships at once, (Its just an example), your faction will be able to support 9 with enough successful escorts of merchant ships. This would be a cool aspect in that you won't always have to be roaming the seas for a good fight, you could just escort the convoy and wait for someone who tries to come sink it, becuase after all, if they don't at least try to sink it, they're just going to let you get stronger without a fight. And I know I'd at least try to do everything in my ship's power to prevent the enemy from becoming the dominant power. I know theres probably tons of flaws with the idea, but its just and idea that is pretty flexible. Anyway, theres my two cents, see ya on the waves. enigma!: buxton: hehe:

Well, WWII proved without a doubt that denying resources to your enemy wins wars. A fleet's no good with no oil or shells, and planes aren't going to threaten anyone with no avgas. I expect we will see fierce attacks on each other's convoys, especially oilers and tankers. It'll be interesting to see if TAG uses the actual historical convoy routes, or changes them up to keep bookworms/historians like be from pulling out the old charts and planning an ambush :)

East has said (IIRC) that the convoys DO matter. For instance if that ship carrying 50k tons of oil gets sunk, then there's that much less fuel to get ships around.

I also recall him saying that the players determine the route of the convoy, so as long as they don't keep taking the same route things will be rather random.
