Gyro Angles Question

Hi Guys,
I presume that the gyro angles (in relation to Torp launching) mean that you can set the torp to run 12 degrees either direction of your current heading and the torp will adjust for effect when launched.
Not too sure if this has worked for me. Do you have to set it manually or does it happen automatically when you aim your periscope in tactical mode.
Also what are the other settings for. I know one is for the depth setting of the torp. If so, what is it used for other than the obvious? Also what generally is the draft of vessels or is this for engaging other subs? Does the AI react differently if it does not "see" a torp wake?
The other dial I think is something to do with range, but I am not too sure. Perhaps somebody can clarify this for me and let me know of its use. Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
BTW this is a fantastic game and the community seems to be really nice and very helpful................. hint hint....
Oh and by the way I am using the latest patch UK version

Simple realy: The angle gyro setting is used when you're not using the tactical view, but if you use the tactical view it will automatically set your gyro angle for your torp. So if you use the tactical view ignor this dial.
The dial you call for the distance is actually the speed dial, the faster the torpedo the shorter range it will travel. Honnestly I use the fastest speed, exept in certain situation with subs...
The depth dial for the torp is usefull when shooting torps at subs at periscope deepht or are going to dive. But in the real time game it's really hard to realise, I for instance manage this only once in DD. But then I always set depth to 0 vs all ship, because in rought sea I've seen some torps going under ships because of a big wave...
If you like torps you can still go and see the topic about that this forum
How to use torps

i believe when attacking surface ships, the theory is that the lower you hit them towards their keel, they more damage can be inflicted from possibly breaking their back to higher water pressure trying to get into the ship, thus causing an even greater rate of sinking, etc etc.
ive yet to test this to see if a DD or DE will sink with fewer torps. most of the time ill be in a pivoting battle and ill end up giving them all 4 in one quick salvo and sending them to the bottom from 300m or less.

The biggest difference with depth has to do with the sea state...

Although if you want to be a stickler for historical fact, RedZ71 is correct, I believe. Read that a few times too, that hitting them at a few meters more depth made quite a diff.

I was referring to in-game. We don't model the physics of the explosion or even location damage yet.

Certainly not complaining here, East. Like Red, all to happy to get them in at all.
I find you guys stick to the side of authenticity quite a lot as it is, or even err on the safe side, like with sub hunting. Most people overestimate what 1937 tech could do (or it got tested in real situations for the first time, during the real thing -quite a lot of stuff didn't work as advertised)

Well if you've played Silent hunter you know that DE and DD has got a 1m in the water ( I think its called "Draught", not sure...), so if the weather is bad you torps even set at 1meter will go under. But vs oilers and tankers, I don't since even a torps at 0meter is enough why bother with deeper torps?
Anyway guys Good Hunting! enigma!:

In heavy seas a shallow setting will cause the torpedo to dolphin more. This increases your risk of going under.
