This looks like it's going to be great stuff! I don't know about the rest of you, but there's nothing I hate more than joining a persistent online game halfway through...

XP gives us a chance to hone our skills against the rather nasty AI before we're set loose against other players, and it means when MP goes live there'll be a good range of players throughout the ranks instead of a couple thousand Ensigns battling it out

Yup! My only real query right now is will XP have a strategic aspect? Will the mission releases have an impact on the war at this stage... and if so how will it be worked out?

And most importantly... how quick d'you think I can get a carrier?

I'm guessing vote turnout is lower than expected because a lot of people are in the same boat and just didn't notice your dispatch in there. Might be an idea to contact one of the companies that develops anti-spam software and find out why it's wrongly flagging stuff from TA?

I have watched this thread for a while now, and I understand the concept of the XP, however I must say that with the rseponse here, that the Enigma player base is down to some very hard core players only now, and that most of the people purchased Enigma did so mainly for Multiplay, as I did (other wise they would be in here replying to the email).

Question:

Is multiplay ever likely to happen in the next 12 months?

If not then I would much rather see a Multiplay Patch for Lans or a patch like that used on BF1942 so at least the game can be played online, by dedicated fans, and not have energy and money spent on XP (patches) until later.

I am not in here bitching about anything, I have had hours of fun from this great game! And I understand about the sponsership etc. However with games like WISH coming out, I think that Enigma has missed its window.

Anyway thats just my 2 cents worth, as a Dedicated MP Fan of games.

Yes there will be multiplayer in the next 12 months.

We intended to use the XP to help us get there instead of having to do another singleplayer or another game or contract work or raise capital, etc. Since Multiplayer will take longer than a singleplayer or XP would, we just wanted to try and bridge the gap (financially). We have put together a project that should take care of it since XP isn't looking healthy at this point.

We will still offer the account (email, name reservation, etc.), but will likely hold off on the rest. That's not set in concrete, but it is hardening...

And I am still keen to get into the Multiplay side, as floating around in huge ships blasting the crap out of each other appeals to me LOL.

I do susspect a lot of people check the forums most days as I do, as this game is just the bees knees of Naval Combat!

First of all , that this game is fun , and I suspect he really means weeks , rather than hours of .

I don't understand all the strategy of the business about whether to go for MP even if a longer wait , or an alternative meanwhile , etc .

I am sure East would want it as soon as we all do .

A LAN would give us at least the possibility of playing human opponents , I would wish this just as much ,if it is another year until MP . I am not sure if it is the best strategy in the long run.

Many of us have of course felt the same about the delays , but many have said it would be worth waiting a bit longer for real MP too.

Obtaining a CD from Cpt Maxim , which has saved the hassle of dial-up downloading etc , and swiftly received within a few days across the Atlantic has expanded the game , in the meanwhile .

Maybe just the account is best to go for now , and simpler to operate .

Another year waiting will be a long time .

I do not think there is any doubt that this game is a classic !

And I would not like to have to make the decisions that East and company have to make re the games future.

That said I will still be playing this game on and off in the comming years I hope to ne day soon, be able to put a broadside into all here in the forums LOL
