SYSOPS: Where do they come from?

When I last posted I did not have sight of TBar's post which must have been published just as I was completing mine. I would like to add, therefore, that I also appreciate the hard work that TBar has put into the USAAC project. Yes I know; many of you think he has ulterior motives and has his own axe to grind. Problem is, and I think TBar will agree with me, he tends to say too much and, therefore, makes folks think "thou dost protest too much"

But seriously, I'm not going to waste my time thinking of all the ulterior motives that anyone might have in this business. I'm simply going to judge them for the results they have achieved. TBar gave us what we needed at a time when we needed it. It would be the height of ingratitude for us to not appreciate his efforts. As he says he has spent endless hours trying to achieve something on our behalf and I feel a strong sense of guilt for discussing the advantages of moving on to an independent site. Nevertheless by all accounts it seems that many think we should have an independent site and, if thats what it takes to make them feel they have a real meaningful home then so be it. Let the discussion rage on.

Personally, i think "some" sysops are based on who you know rather then what you do.

Because a couple sysops have done nothing, not reffed much, not arranged any events, yet they in the 2 most "dominant squads" (for sysops). Now i don't want to be flamed for that comment, as its my opinion.

As for this sysop rotation scheme? or electing sysops? As much as i disagree with a few current sysops, this would not be the way to go. As Steep/Del say, whoever wants to be a sysop is wrong for the job. In my opinion, if you want the tools, you have an alterior motive. To check tags, or the power that goes with it. I would personally love to see limited access to alias. I still believe a sysop gave out my "imaginary" tag.

Sysops should be given to ACTIVE, i don't mean fly once/twice a week person. Sysops should be able to act non-bias, even if its there friend in question (i dont think happens personally). I have been runwayed 3 times in 2 weeks, all "veterans" and yet 2 warnins and one claimed no runway, yet my wheels down, and the rule is, wheels down = runway, intent or no intent. Yet i saw Ivan got banned? Theres no consistency, i heard there was 0 tolerance? Tzu and Ho insulting each other, both removed, i got called an "ass" by someone, and the sysop wanted to know his side of the story?!!? Now thats biased. My side was NEVER asked for.

I don't agree with sysops being a string of "best friends" because to be honest, thats DBE all over.

I ran a LMS tourny on Wireplay, flown since WP 2.3, run snl, run ws site, trained alot of rookies, wrote my own aa guide, "debated" in forums, alot of people can say this ;)

BS!!!!!! TBAR all you care about is getting money from the ads you display, you are just in it for money. When did you start flying Tbar? Be honest? When? I bet TZU was flying way before you even seen the game.

oh and Tbar how many players that you guaranteed you would produce if you had the USA controls have you supplied. I say maybe 2 maybe 3 no more than that, all you got was ads and more of a broad way to offer ads, Nitro was right, all the USA site is, is a Ad site that generates money for those in control, question is who? Is it TidesOfWar? Or Tbar or Admins of AA that benefit from the ads and how much goes in threre pocket?

You posted yesterday, Guest_My Opinion. It was a good post and, although it doesn't seem to have gained much support, it was a positive proposal. Today you seem to be intent on being negative. We do not censor opinions here but we do ask that people try to be civil to each other. I think there has been adequate explanation in these forums to indicate that those administering AA are not financially benefitting from their participation. You are not alone in thinking that the US community should have its own site. This view has been put forward by several folk and seems to be gaining momentum. Most of those who have proposed such a move have done so respectfully and I am sure their views will be considered seriously by the community. Attacks on TBar are really unnecessary and do nothing to further the cause of those wanting change.

As I said we do not censor opinions and you are entitled to air yours. You did so yesterday in a civil manner and it would be nice if you continued to do so.
