Leave that yellow sub till a bit later .

Head west and south , as I previously mentioned .

Assign a few things to attack the nearest which pursue you , including torpedo boats which will follow you persistently.

You must destroy them , and survive . Let the Kaiser take care of itself !

Trying to destroy the sub too early means the other subs will sink you .

Well, I'm still at it guy's. Up to 143 surface missions with no success on 10b. Good thing I wasn't able to join the Navy after all. At one point I thought I was going to have it made. When I switched off the easy button I seemed to stay around a lot longer for some reason. It only prolongs the inevitable.

Question, when I'm running for the hills do you ever decide to turn just long enough to throw a few fish into the enemy? Or do you just get free and clear and let everyone else do the dirty work?

Are you better off grouping your boats together to focus on one ship at a time? or taking the time to individually choose a different target for each ship?

At approximately 21:30 hours (EST) on 5-19-2005 I finally did it. After 150 surface missions I get my battleship.

I ended up placing all guns and ships on one ship at a time and simply got the heck outta Dodge as fast as possible letting the others do the dirty work. Had a surprise at the end when the yellow sub had a few fish left in her I didn't expect from her aft. Still ended up with half my hull integrity.

DAMN STRAIGHT!!!! Image

Yeah i have trouble too. but im gonna try what i did to protect the hood.

order as many Z-class destroyers to protect the Kaiser. Then protect it urself. You will have at least 5 protecting her. Then let the others fend for themselves and you of course. kidding just keep shooting and you might win. 😵

I sank all of the enemy ships in 10b, the KW3 survived along with 3 subs and 2 de's all that was left was that yellow sub.

I rarely could turn tight enough to get those 2 depth charges to drop even close to the sub, my 2 destroyer escorts would not attack even though they had orders too and the sub would pop up at point blank range and put a torpedo into me and go right back down.

After a couple of hours of this he finally sank me !

This is not much fun when the game handicaps you to the point of causing severe frustration. I have better things to do.

Try ordering a few aircraft to attack the sub too.

I finally finished this one. Took me about 15 tries. I got a lot of good info from this thread. Thank you all. I found the way to do it is to fire a spread of torps from the stbd side right away. Then pivot to port at flank, and haul ass to the west, ordering others to attack the DD's. I pick off the MTB's from my stern as I am putting distance between myself and the DD's guns. I then circle back and accompany the BB, to help protect her. Once the surface contacts are gone, then I order everyone that is left to attack the subs. I don't get too close, and wait for them to surface, and put a few 5" down their throats. After the sub(s) that are left submerge again, I move in and drop the charges on them, while dodging their torps. The BB will help you also, whenever the subs are surfaced, and will usually pick off one or two.

I still had about 75% of my hull left also. :D

this is why i love and hate this game. I love it because it is the naval simulator that i was looking for. But i hate it because i am expected to survive the onslought of 10+ destroyers. I have tried suggestions of this baord, but the americans just pick off my buddies one at a time with no losses, my torps seem to go right by with out them even bothering to evade, and once the allies are killed, the supernatural gunney of 10+ fletchers kills me in about 10 seconds, despite zig zags....

-Edit-

Ha i beat it! I love that running away is the tactic that works best. forget the rest of the fleet as long as i live
