Did you download from Dreamcatcher? They had accidently posted the beta version on their site. Otherwise we have visibility out to 4k meters in the release patch.

Thats strange ? I would say I have visability to about 2k Max.
I downloaded the Offical Patch from here.
I might play with some settings it may have been foggy on the game set up.

Same here...max. vis. 2K. But so far only operated in Morning.
Don't know if the sea/sky colour issue mentioned elsewhere by East is influencing it.

I noticed that weather conditions seem to affect visibility in a couple of missions I played last night. In one, a morning, clear sky mission, there was a noticeable "fogginess" at 2,000+ metres - target ships were whitish outlines. My AI gunner was firing at the ships, yet they were quite indistinct in the binocs.
However, in a subsequent mission played in overcast conditions (I have random weather set for my training missions and patrols), visibility seemed better at the same ranges (more detail visible on targets), so maybe the weather and time of day are factors.

Heres what mine looks like clear and calm. US version.
Atlantic Triple Play, I think it looked better before. Gonna try and see what it looked like before. By installing just ERT without the patch.
Before installation of patch had same weather and all. Even at 20x its still clear.

I noticed this in the early beta stages of the patch. In fact, the screen would occasionally flip-flip between the fog overkill and no fog at all, which was just as excessively crazy.
With the patch, there is still way less visibility distance that there was without the patch.
East said they're working on a future small patch to rectify this. I sure hope so.
Why did they have to fiddle with this perspective of the game?

1) We didn't fiddle with the perspective. Our original weather system was replaced with the one we need for multiplayer. A consequence of this was the visible range was initially affected. In balancing the visible range, fogging and getting the sky/ocean colors working right it changed the appearance at FOGGY times of day (like early morning for example).
2) The fog flipping was an example of the process, obviously not a feature, simply a bug. That's why we fixed it.
3) The OFFICIAL release of the patch has the visibility set properly. It get's foggier on the day extremes, clearer at noon as a general rule.
4) The screen shot shows exponential fog, probably early morning on a relatively clear day.
5) There is no micro-patch and there won't be a micro-patch. It was just a possible solution if the public beta version became the release version. It didn't.

Im not trying to upset you guys and the above shot is a midday shot in the patch. Im just showing the diffrence. I love the patch at some points the loading the interface the detail and the ships. But I just wasnt sure if I had the correct patch in as noone had said anything about visibility probs in the offical release.
