I will replay this some more , ordering the subs westwards.
They're already heading NW. I don't think you'll gain much ordering them due west.
Hasn't  every  Admiral completed this mission loing ago ?
This is the only campaign I didn't complete. I was interrupted by work, life and beta testing the patches from the start. Image

Yeah they turned all directions when not ordered to any particular ,the way I played this before and even started heading East ! ( Try that at home too lol . )

Thus , I circled , 9'0'clock to 1'0'clock , and sunk Alliances with the subs in middle ! Aiming torpedoes close to the subs often . and destroying them a few times !

I have found sometimes west , sometimes more southerly , is best to order them depending on where the Alliances are .

They also now allow me to move north of them ,, and recontinue their course , of course .

Today I played a few times , experimenting on strategies of this mission .

Some , I took on the 12 Sunderlands , north of the subs and Barbarossas.

Tried to get out of range of Alliances and concentrated on planes and LFN sub. Managed to sink it twice , and it me once! |

This way I had far less opportunity to launch torpedoes at long range towards the Alliances .

If the three other Barbarossas are eastwards of you , and probably in a triangular formation , rather than in line due South it makes it easier to take on the LFN sub and planes because they will engage the Alliances a lot sooner , and more easterly .

Requires a lot of watching for torpedoes from both , and external view , and close evading . Once I ran out of all AA ammo ! Kept up the 5 inch shells ! A pity , because this mission is good for playing in the AA guns .
