I have a copy of this coming in Fuby....should have it in hand tomorrow so I'll let you know how it works for me. It may be better since I ran something called a dual-core optimizer on my computer when I had some severe warping issues with 1946 and that fixed that problem.

I do however wish I would have done some additional research on my end regarding the subject of purchasing the additional aircraft...That would have been a factor that would have given me pause, but I will pony up for the SE-5 since it's my favorite aircraft. I personally think that charging per aircraft is pretty poor business considering I coughed up 40.00 bucks for the game, but that's on me for not doing my homework in advance.

Anyways, I'm certainly going to give it a shot.

I also run the optimizer..thanks for the mention though..

the first few version of this played pretty lame (on my system).

But their latest patch has done something. I can actually play it now..

first time since I purchased it I can battle more than 1 plane at a time.

Great looking game.. Great looking planes.. the feel and wind are pretty neat..

With that said..their Multiplay is still something that needs a vast improvement imo.

It is possible to get online and play though.. Kinda limited on people and place to connect.

Dunno what they was thinking when they designed the MP..sigh.

Fuby,

I installed it this afternoon, and I am pretty impressed by it! I will certainly need some help getting some of the controls figured out...like setting the cutout, etc. Also I have a rather strange issue that someone may be able to shed some light on...My USB rudder pedals do not work at all in this game....other then initially in the first training mission. Closed out the game and checked to see if it was working correctly and all was good...checked in IL-2 and all is well....I'm at a loss at this point...Gunloon you have any ideas?

I know gunloon was using his pedals the other morning....

glad to hear, other then that, all is well...

I did get the darn Se5 as well, As I been stairing at it as my desktop background for a few months now...sigh..

Seems to fly pretty good..although that darn Nieuport still out turns anything I can fly! (Lack of skills on my part)

Well I got it figured out...as well as alot of the other controls thanks to Gunloon. Thanks for your patience as well Gun!

Had a very good time having at go in multi-player...and I will certainly agree with you guys. There is certainly room for improvement on the Multiplayer aspect. Still, Gunloon did some absolutely baffling maneuvers with that Albatross! One second I'm on him and just about ready to squeeze a burst off, then watch him pull up, and spin that thing around and then be on my tail the next! That was really great to see, and I really wish I had the faintest idea on how to work fraps and perhaps save some of these evenings of us cutting our proverbial teeth and learn how things work. Perhaps in the near future a training server will show up that will help pilots that are green as grass learn how to utilize the each aircraft's strengths and capitalize on our opponent's weakness.

GREAT TIMES IN THERE GUYS!!!! Thanks to both Fuby and Gunloon for suggesting this sim to me, and flying online with me this evening! Hope to do so again soon and learn some more on this.

I got it..I don't really like it.. It looks good.. has some nice graphics..

If I had a top of the line system all might, might work..might not..

Alot of talk on riseofflight.com about that..Planes all have their own feel.

You get 4 planes with it.. you buy the rest at around $7.62 each..

I play with everything on low and still get lag during big battles (meaning more than one - three other planes in the open)..

Some play it just fine..with similar system..only game I cannot play fine..

I have 2.8ghz chip with 250gts(9800gtxplus) nvidia card, 4 gig ram under vista.

Some have less and say it runs fine.. dunno.. seems confusing..might hate vista who knows.

latest patch did give a big boost in performance so something must been/is wrong..

some even swear it has no problems.. It sat shelved here a few months till latest patch

Now I can at least play most Single player missions except the intense ones 10 or more planes

and I get into Multiplayer..not perfect but playable if against others and not AI...

judge by the forums..be warned before hand...but once in a dogfight..its a blast..;)

Best wind sounds and feel I have felt in a plane...

I assume in a year or so, if they are still around, it might be a great system.

Ummm...you also need a connection to their server to activate the game even in single player.

They keep all stats on your performance.. good thing..unless they fold..

Single player can be fun..just one on one fights..

Multiplayer is a joke..but at times works..nothing near IL-2.

You have to rig up a map to crash AI to have a dogfight.

Dedicated servers must buy license.. dunno what they are thinking here.

The few times I have looked at Multiplayer...there may be about 10 servers up..most sit empty.

Maybe 2 are USA based. the rest are all over the map. Biggest game I seen up is about 12 people.

It's like...an after thought for Multiplayer.. shame...

might be better waiting that year and get Canvas Knights till then.

But, you wont have the quality looks with that one.. then again..looks aint everything..

Wow, thanks for the quick feedback. ill hold off this purchase then. Does your rig play il2 Good? mine rips up the FPS on excellent grafix mode with a 8800 gt . i still play IL2 , just dusted off the controll stick

oh yeah, still try IL-2 now and then..usually get shot down..:)

heck, air-attack gets me shot down..lol..

one thing about riseofflight.. with all those bad things I mention..

it still is an advancement in flight sims..and if that's your niche..

and you want to pay to be a beta tester.... it's worth getting.

They may pull it into one fine game eventually.. They are advancing..

I would say the planes respond much differently then IL-2..

Just listening to the Wind as you dive is worth most frustrations.

Watching your plane fall to pieces (parts and holes) while getting shot is pretty cool.

wings ripping off while diving to fast..it's a work in progress though.
