Scotty, the fireball was not intended to be a "fireball". I started with the FLH seal behind the text but could not get a good look and still see what it was behind the text. So I decided to make it appear as if it were falling into or past the sig with a reflection of it in the Black Eye. After a little while I felt it looked like a meteor, and went with that. It really doesn't fit in the overall scheme of the sig, but hey, I got tiered of the task and played some WaW. So, as for how I did it. Too much to post on here, and it's not a simple one, two process. Trial and error is all I can say.
And I need to correct the amount of layers. There are currently 35, but some of the image details were multiple layers that had been merged. So there is more there than I can see. However, layers is what gives the image depth and detail. You'll learn this with time.

Well, the kicker of the whole sig thing is this. Consistency/Continuity. If you remember the sig contest had certain guidelines to follow. This was to give the sigs on this forum a certain feel and continuity. Making a sig would be far easier if it could be any style, shape, etc... However, this is not the case. It took me quite some time to fully understand and except the idea of all the graphics from this site having something that tied them all together. Be it a font type or the use of a certain image, something that gave it a feel and flow to make it fit into the overall layout of the site. If you look at Maddogg's sig, d3term1ned's, blackeye's, hunterdog's, Tbar's, etc, they all follow a similar style. Currently we are in search of an easier way to make a dynamic sig program, meaning you want a sig, just go to the page and build one. It would have all of the pieces, you would just put it together with what you wanted, colors, styles, and so on. But, currently this program has eluded us, or at least an extremely versatile one that doesn't require huge amounts of code to work. So, until then, I have a base style to work from for the peep's that want a sig at this time. If Tbar and I could ever get together on TS at the same time I wanted to let him know my current ideas for the sigs as they stand currently. So, if you see similarity in the sigs that I make, this is why. Continuity! Restrictive? Yes. Necessary? Yes!

Woot! Go to iTunes and find the podcasts on Photoshop. They are videos and show you some simple tricks. Well worth the effort if you are new to Photoshop like me. Then in about 2-months you will be cranking out anything you want.
Get good enough, and you will find a great job.
