It was quite nostalgic being back in an old 1.5 arena again.Perhaps I can start an "under the hill gang" and participate, if I can find a couple of other folks who aren't wanted by any self respecting squad.
I think this sort of ad hoc event is a good idea. It is a great way for people to sharpen their skills in a more friendly atmosphere than FFA which is very "cut throat" and gets decidedly unfriendly from time to time. The unfriendliness in FFA is usually caused by folks misunderstanding each others motives. They retaliate and things go from bad to worse. It seems to me that, in those pvt arena events...3X3 or whatever, people communicate more and are polite...even helpful. I was in the arena as an observer the night FD and TOW were having their 3X3. The less skilled pilots seemed to be learning a lot and the good pilots seemed to be having fun passing on tips. A great atmosphere and while they were having their fun I built up a 190 Artificial Intelligence score killing tanks and blowing up buildings. It was quite nostalgic being back in an old 1.5 arena again.
