Tides of War

I doubt you every see anything more on Enigma as far as a new game or 'chapter 2'. This is a tragic end for a great product I know, but its a fact of life.

My head isn't in the clouds, I am simply holding out some hope. To me, ERT is one of the best naval games on the market. I've always had more fun playing it compared to SH3 or Dangerous Waters. I just hope it has a future in someone's hands.

Folks here want Multi Play. I feel the day of single play is limited, MP is where the action is. I suppose there will always be a market for SP, especially those that never get out on the internet. SP is a good way to introduce a game to a wide audience IF it promises MP also.... Market studies, I'm sure will say that I'm wrong.. but I know what my users want .. MULTI-PLAY.
If Enigma were ever picked up by an Indie Team .. open source . I'm sure it would get the followiing .. I'm nearly positive and would bet the bank on it.

The first 'good' Naval Warfare game that is Multi Play .. you can bet we are going to cover it, play it and make up battle groups etc ! AND, it Tides can host a server for the game .. we will do that also just like we do for IL2 Pacific Fighters, Call of Duty and any other game our members want to play.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love that too. To me, mp, decent graphics, and good gameplay make up the best games. At the moment, my love is for naval games, mostly subsims. I will certainly try multiplay again when Deep Six and Danger Deep go mp, but in all honesty, as much as those have me psyched, ERT has those beat graphics-wise. My dream would be to have a MP version of ERT, but it just didn't happen. I hope that will be rectified, but we'll see.

No doubt ERT was one of the best if not the best. Single play has its market no doubt, but here at Tides we are a Multi Play Community. Tides supported the SP forums for ERT here since game conception. These SP Forums were a real exception to our norms of MP , but the game was planned for MP since it was first conceived and the MP is what our members drooled for.

OUR dream has always been for a MP Naval game that was massive MP, playable, and fun. ERT promised massive multi play capabilites from the first conception posts/announcements. We were told Single Play issue at first was necessary to gain the capital needed for MP on the scale announced. As you can see from various posts here we have been waiting forever .. and then some .. and still waiting.

We experienced a host of updates and patches and introduced to new chapters, etc .. but still no MP.

I have to agree over and over again that ERT was probably the best Naval Warfare game of WWII era ever produced.. and yes the graphics, I feel, has all the rest beat hands down. We DREAMED of an ERT that was MP .. the ultimate experience .. can you imagine the environment with hundreds of players? I would setting for 50 at a time!

Reality: I just don't feel that ERT MP is ever going to happen in my gaming lifetime, not by TAG anyway or it would have already happened. If TAG ever does come back to life in some form, great! As I have said several times over on several forums .. the first guy out with a decent WWII erea Naval Warfare Game that is even close to massive multi play has got my attention!

Reality: I doubt that the graphics you love from ERT SP will show up in Multiplay version of Deep Six. The game was not designed for that level of graphics, if you ever do see that level then GREAT! Deep Six is really a totaly different game, it just has the same Captian at the Helm, its not the same ship of ERT.

Here at Tides, most of us MP types would be happy to see Deep Six come to live in reality in almost any form of grahics, our only desire is for a playable game, we can give up a lot of 'sim like' features for playability and fun

I understand and accept what you say. We agree totally on some things, but differ in feelings on others, yet I respect your opinions on the matter.

As for DS, I know it won't be as graphics intensive as ERT was, although I expect it will still be great fun to play. I now see the return of ERT as a goal to aspire to. A MP version would blow away the competition, and it's possible to do. From what I see, a new foundation needs to be laid for that to happen.

I remain a realist, but not a hopeless one.

LoL man .. I want to keep the dream alive as well .. just not gonna hold my breath. Like you I've been out looking around and just hoping there is something coming. Like you I will keep my eye open and keep wishing as that is all I have right now

I often wonder why the game development community does not see this gaping hole out there.. ready to be filled. When I look at the multiplay of Il2 Pacific Fighters .. I keep wondering why .. why no naval warfare game. Surely if Il2 Pacific Fighters can do what they have done .. then why not Naval Warfar along the same lines.

I believe the Big money thinks that Naval warfare is a small nitch market that is not worth the investment (why spend the money on IW when you can spend it on World of Warcraft). The Cry for it here may be loud but the the numbers are low. Gaming is a business for everyone but us players and we tend to forget that.

I have been dreaming of an online MMPG as log if not longer then anyone here but we are a cry in the wilderness. As the median age of online gamers goes up ( a few years ago it was 18 now I believe its 29 and climbing fast) The types of games demanded will change. I think we were just a tad bit ahead of our times. As much as I loved IW in real dollars it was not a success. that why the support was so low. Navy Field ( avery crappy game in my opinion) has proved there is a market now and it will grow in the future and in there lies a reason for hope. If Navy Field can make it, just think what a good Online game like D6 could do!
