If AOL gives webspace for hosting your homepage, then you must have some login information so you can upload your homepage after you created it.
OK next you need a FTPclient (that is a program) you can download one
here or
here or use Goooooogle or download.com etc.
If you download FlashFXP (first link) then install and when done with that run it.
In FlashFXP hit F8 and a new little window comes up here you fill in the information to the AOL server that AOL provided you with.
Address: ftp.aol.com (or whatever it is)
Port: 21 (im 99.999% sure its port 21)
Login: xxxxx (the login for the homepage server)
Password: xxxxx (the password for the homepage server)
Path: / (leave blank)
Now click connect.
On your right side you will now connect to the AOL FTP server, when connected you will either see a blank folder or the folder may contain some folders like /DEV /BIN /CGI etc it doesnt matter.
Now right click in the right window and select "make dir" name it "pictures" without the ""'s.
When created double click on the new folder you just made (i cant remember if FlashFXP enters it manually by default).
Now activate the left window and browse to the folder where you have your screenshots, hold CTRL-key down while you left clicks with your mouse on those pictures you want to upload, when you have selected them all then let go off CTRL and then drag and drop all the files over into the right window (the one that is connected to AOL).
when the transfer is complete close the program or upload some more if you have some in a diff folder.
When you have done all this, you have also been given a website address (URL) in form of
http://homepages.aol.com/yourname (or something)
Now to open MSIE (Internet Explorer) or whatever webbrowser youre using.
Type in the URL to your website
http://homepages.aol.com/yourname/pictures/picture1.jpg
if the picture loads then you have successfully uploaded the picture(s).
Now the last step: point your browser to
http://enigma.tidesofwar.net and login (if not logged in automatically) and enter the screenshots forum, start a new thread or reply to an existing.
to post your image:
Code: Select all
[img=http://homepages.aol.com/yourname/pictures/picture1.jpg]
click ADD REPLY.
Note 1: The URL I used is an example.
Note 2: Use only lowercase file/folder names. (thats easiset for beginners).
Note 3: Avoid spaces in file/folder names at all costs. (thats easiset for beginners)
Note 4: FlashFXP is not Freeware, you can find other Freeware clients around, they all work the same way, they just have different looks.
Note 5: Remember youre looking for an FTP
Client not a
Server (the server is at AOL).
Finally if you dont have your FTP info for your AOL homepage, give them a call and they can tell you, just have your contract ID ready (they will need that, to look your info up and verify that it is you).
If AOL does not offer webspace then point your browser to google and search for "free web hosting" and words like that, there is plenty that offers 10-50MB free webspace.
Hope this helped.
