Are You Enjoying The Game?

Roughly soon ;) - Its with GMX bash: QA now, but I reckon the Tides of War "unnofficial" QA will have chased down most of the serious issues.

I can tell you its looking good; it will ease some of the newbie campaign pain as well as extending the patrol experience for the dedicated gamer who has gone through the campaigns. Plus there are a few new ships to play (Schnelleboot & battlecruisers) and a much better interface for torpedo control, depth charge control etc.

This is a very good game play wise, almost straight into the action, the ships handle very well, and the interface is resonable.

The Graphics are very well done, and the sea gives you that sea sick feeling its great Image

I am a multiplayer fan, so if the game developers get the multiplay side right I will be playing this for a long time to come!

Oh Just seen this post from above
The game looks and plays really well but needs a very high-end rig to overcome the jitters. Although the jitters mainly happend when your standing on the bridge and the volumemetric smoke hits you in the face whilst aircraft are inbound. Other than that the game makes you feel like your watching a movie while your in it

The game is very nice and entertaining... except the sub hunting part. It's ridiculous that there's absolutely no way to read the depth. I know about the "blip shape" trick but it's not very helpful. I'd love to see some way to read a sub's depth from the surface. It could be something like "deep-shallow" info or an estimation.

And there's too much smoke IMHO. I know this feature is necessary for MP to somehow distinguish damaged vessels, but seeing my sub smoke underwater makes me laugh. And the smoke immediately clouds all vision from the ship. It does not affect AI gunners, but manual targeting becomes impossible.

Welcome to sub-hunting 1940's style. :P
I do believe there were some ways to estimate a sub's depth with ASDIC, especially when a ship was directly above.

What kind of strategy it is - to guess how to set your depthcharges. It's pure arcade or even less. Instead of guessing, make it a dice roll: 1, 2 = hit, 3-6 = miss.
