having a lan server mode would definatly be more than acceptable.
We haven't decided on price yet. We are giving the client away and, as we have shown with singleplayer, we will continue to update the multiplayer game every 3 months, new content, new ships, weapons, etc.
The price will be between $10 and $13 per month. We will probably have 24 hour ticket packs available (use them whenever you want) as well as some other options.

I was hoping this is the route you would go East.

ok i c your point but it would be nice if it was direct play coz u never no if the older ppl would like 2 play as well as they were in the war it self. plus i was thinking is there anyway u could eidit the tex of the models or the model its self because i wouldent mine adding sume of mine own models ?????
Kusanagi,
This will be on their servers. You might be able to do some things, but there will be little to no opportunity to manipulate the files. Better than Punkbuster.
The idea of a WWII vet getting online and playing this game seems kind of incredible. I am sure some may try it, but all are into their 70's or greater. That is definitely not a demographic East has geared this towards.
And by the way. If East just lost 37 players for setting things up this way, he gained 200 Roving Guns for the same.

East, not being smart, but I thought we just get a month free. That's why there is singleplayer - buy it one time and play as much as you like. We are a small studio and a subscription model is the only way we can afford to deliver the type of content we intend to deliver.
Is it longer than that?
/Warspite
Not to be out of line, but yes Warspite.
Many, many of the games played online today are by subscription. Infact, it is harder to find a good free game than it is a subscribed game. Call of Duty, Mechwarrior, Americas Army, Delta Force, et al, they just exist in round after round of the same thing.
Dont get me wrong, I have played Americas Army for going on two years. Alternatively, Americas Army continues to be updated. The other games are not updated. What the publisher gave to you is it. East is referring to a program that will give the community continued development and an enclosed environment.
The enclosed environment allows more control over how people are playing. If you have ever played Counter Strike or Delta Force, you should know to what I am referring. Americas Army has a gentleman that calls himself Evil Bert who developed the "Evil Hack". Not until Punkbuster was introduced into this game did it mostly go away. Subscription games are not as hard for the developer to control.
Back to the money aspect: If you play a $40 game and want to play regularly, you most likely will end up wanting a server to play on. For a game like America's Army, you either pay for the connection that will allow a computer to run a server and a separate computer to play the game or rent a server on a monthly basis. My clan rents one for $160 per month. We also rent multiple Team Speak servers for $10 and $20 a month. Luckily, we are a large clan of young men who can afford to pay a hefty sum each month. Mind you, Americas Army, the actual game, is free to all but folks in the U.S. of sufficient age to pay in support of our federal government.
All East is asking is for soda money each month to provide us a good and continuous environment to play in. My only concern is whether his accounting staff is of sufficient caliber to ensure their break even is accurate.

You do get one month free but you can play single player for one price if your not into paying for Massive Multiplayer.East, not being smart, but I thought we just get a month free.
