Ert Gold?

I see ERT gold is in the UK shops now. I'm currently running UK version of ERT (GMX version - sorry) with patches A,B & C installed and its unclear to me whether its worth getting the gold version. Any advice welcome...

Also if the design team want some constructive criticism I really think you should improve the design of the ERT box. If I did not know that you have a good product I personally would not be tempted to buy it. The front cover does not do justice to the detail of your ships-- it has a sort of cartoon quality. and the back is dominated by a poster saying 'remember Oct 17th' and lots of frontpages of newspapers. My guess is that most new users won't have a clue what the game is about. There are some screen shots, but I'm sure you could include some better ones-- also more words about the games great capabilities would be useful.

Anyway just my opinion... I hope it sells well-- you guys deserve it.

Yes I read the messages about it but it was not clear to me I was getting anything significant over the A,B,C patched UK version. I'm happy to pay the ?19 if it gives a worthwhile enhancement.

As far as I can tell most of these are are included by patch C-- things like complete soundtrack dont really bother me as I normally turn music off anyway...

eg I'm unclear whether I get new ships ... eg V&W class destroyers,Cruisers etc.. and what the new weapons are

Gold Edition Changes:

- 2 new historic weapons -- what are they?

- New historic ships.... which are these?

- Original ships and weapons fully redone... how much more than ABC patches?

- Complete soundtrack included ... not really bothered..

- Player commanded battle cruiser... can command Hood etc now.. any new?

- Live ocean and weather... think i have this

- new missions ... ? I'd really like a mission builder

- Improved audio FX.... more than patch C?

- Enhanced gameplay with new weapon control ... better AI?

- New voice pack... got some odd voices ((germano-cornish?) with patch C.. prefer text!

Just get it anyway . The game is well worth it , and it'd be more up to date .

It surprises me from what I have read here , that there is some problem with removing the disc - and now I hear the box has some criticisms .

I wonder if whoever designed the packaging ever played the game ! It sounds as if they have not .!

I changed to the dreamcatcher , and the CD with the patches , I am glad not to see the old GMX logo anyway !

Actually the box was designed by us. The back of the box has all the headlines telling you what is different about the world - October 17th is the date of the SCAPA FLOW attack by the American Navy; the culmination of Chapter one. As for the ships on the cover, those are actual ships, aircraft and subs from the game. The coloring is Photoshop, but the ships were setup in MAX and rendered for the cover.

I guess my point is no-one who has not already played the game will understand what the back page is about.. I realised October 17th was the reverse pearl harbour event -but I'm afraid it will mean nothing to non-ert gamers-in my view main purpose of box cover is to attract new customers

.. and the front page-- I'm sorry --but to me it gives the impression that it is some sort of arcade game rather than the serious simulation that it is. Some of the smaller pics almost hidden on the back -eg e-boat & destroyer - give the right impression.

From my point of view a clear list of what upgrades over previous versions are included would have been most useful...

Anyway I hope the feedback is useful... its certainly meant to be constructive. I'll probably get it as I always feel a bit bad playing the GMX version... I just need a bit of convincing that there is something more than the C patched version....

You don't need to get it, there is going to be a patch for the Original EU version that brings it up to the GOLD. I think the big reason many existing owners of Enigma are buying it is just to show support.

That particular cover is a version of the US cover which is the bestselling cover in our North American Publishers history - we standardized the GOLD to that basic cover - all areas will look similar. And of course you do get to fight and command the ship in the middle...

Is the ship in the middle a BB? Do you have to complete the campaign to unlock it again? =)

As a submariner it is the only surface ship i'd like to captain just for some fun. (Patrol boats are good too).
