What about a scheduled practice?

What about making a practice with 2 teams? One on deck and the other pinning it......we could learned how to take off with a lot of GE on us for example.

The other team could learn how to keep the pin effective.

It's just something constantly in my head.....how to take off with the other team on us.

What about a scheduled practice?

Hi Tango,

Good idea. I think we could do such practice within the squad, if we get say 7, or more, people in a session, 3 pin and 4 try to break free.

In the coming weeks I'll be talking too - well every squad that makes the mistake of being on line when I am ;) to see if we can schedule friendlies. Something else TBAR tells me has worked in the past is to get together as a squad and open a teams room entitled something like ... "BSS GB AGAINST ALL COMERS" or "USHA SMELL, AND TS TOO" and play as a squad against anyone that enters :D

Personally I would also be in favour of a Sunday practice in place of the match's.... We are getting 6 or 7 people for the match's, maybe after a few weeks break we could look into this too. Blue wing have a scheduled practice on Saturday mornings at 10:00 BST, but that's probably early for you ( its bally early for me !!) and in truth attendance has wained through the holiday period... but I know it will pick up again soon.

As Joker mentioned in the last match debrief, I think people may be in favour of a break, I mean... not ME oh no... I'm a REAL BLOKE !! made of sterner stuff ME, STANIMA thats what I have built for the duration :)

In the meantime, we should try to get into teams as much as possible and wing with other BSS pilots, especially if you can get three or more of us together.

Finally - I suggest we all study the combat flight tactics Joker found.... Cos Burton will be asking questons later... ;)

Absolutely correct on all counts Burton. I agree with you. I think we should keep practicing in open teams and I love the BSS takes on the world challenge to. I think pinning practice is a good thing to work on too. My version of breaking pins usually flys in the face of common sense, but it works well for me. I believe when several pilots are pinned they should all take off in different directions. This worked well for us this past Sunday and all of you guys did it pretty much on que when I called for it. When by myself I will just try to drag enemy pilots as far away from the base as I can. This allows of other pilots to get up and flying. This past Sunday I noticed that TS would not follow you for long before they went back to cover the base. They were flying what I call a "Zone" Defense. When one pilot let you go one or two other would come for you from a different place on the map. Still, it allowed myself and Zarn to get up and try some different things that seemed to be working well. The crossing maneuver that me and Zarn where using is one that he saw on the other BSS web site. This is a move that Strife and myself had been working on for quite some time and it works very well when you have one or two bandits trailing you. I named this move the "Iron Cross". One pilot initiates the command and both plane cross towards each other completing a circle so to speak. One plane should be able to come around for a shot on the enemy plane. We should work on this a lot more.

Enough rambling for now. See you all in the skies.

Hey Tango, A scissors is a different combat maneuver from what Zarn and I where trying to do.

I do use a scissors when being persued from time to time. What I will do is to roll out of the line of fire and as the bandit tries to get me back in his sights I turn back the opposite direction and I continue doing this until I can pull up and roll over hit the brakes and let him zoom by and then I roll down behind him and take a quick shot to slow him down. Here is a link to what I am speaking of.

The "Iron Cross" as I have named it is something that Strife and myself worked on for quite sometime, when Zarn brouhgt this up during our flight I new what we needed to do. Its someting we should all get together and work on.
