Okay ya'll, I used to just live with this, but once you start dying because of it, it gets really annoying.

Enigma has this thing I've decided to call the "magic torpedo," and it works like this:

- Torpedo fired from ship or plane

- Target ship moves out of the way

- Target ship dies

Basically what happens, I guess, is that you can move out of the way of the bubble tracer and then go on with your life, but then the torpedo still hits you. I've screenied two examples, the first from an MTB mission and the second from a sub patrol. I would have more, but I've got a slow computer and it's annoying screening, uploading, etc.... If you need more, though, I'd be happy to provide them.

The torpedo is a little hard to see in this one, you can note about a 2mm (screen size) trail very clear of the starboard side of the bow, and of course the explosion mid-bow on starboard side.

SS2:

This one is slightly more obvious. Trail on port about 1u1/2 inches (screen size) off port side, and the explosion mid-aft, port side.

I don't know if it happens to anyone else, but it happens to me quite a bit and it is very annoying...

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

As a beta tester for some other software companies.. I have seen in my experience a lot of situations where one thing is supposed to do something but something else is getting involved, so I have to ask..

"Did you count the number of shells hitting your boat or were you focusing only on torpedos?"

"Were you watching the status and measurement of your health bar at the time the torpedo hit / before & after?"

"Can you repeat this scenario on any mission you take, or just certain missions?"

"Regardless of which missions it happens on, how repeatable is this event.. every time you look for it, only 1 out of 10 times you play the missions, or something else?"

Well, for me, I can duplicate it whenever I want. I can turn out of the path of a torpedo so that it is running parallel to me, and it would be about 40 yards from my hull as it passes by, and it still blows up and causes an explosion to my hull. I don't believe there were proximity fuses in torpedoes back then, especially that far away. It does get quite frustrating at times.

Maxim - to answer your questions:

1. In both of the pictures, there's no possible way shells could have been hitting my boat. Pic 1, MTB's have no guns larger than 20mm; Pic 2, fighting a submerged submarine.

2. Yes, I took damage from the torpedoes. Even if I hadn't, there's still an explosion that shouldn't be there.... Sometimes the explosion is in weird places, too, like Lego said.

3. Da, I can duplicate it on any mission. Just read USS MONTEREY's post.

4. This happens every time the torp gets close to my ship running approximately parallel with it.

Maybe this is something that will get fixed in chapter two... :o/

Well this is odd, because in all the factions and all the missions I have run, I have never noticed it. Having played the game a lot, I must have been having too much fun avoiding those torps or not letting them get that close to me to ever notice it.. :P But I will try to remember to look for this issue next time Im out.

I seem to remember, - and I could be mistaken here and not using the right wording, that each vessel occupies a certain "box" in the coding format - being a square or rectangular shaped area which the vessel occupies.

Could it be that the area that the ship occupies, which may be for example

comprise a 10 x 3 shape, and that the torpedo is actually striking that area, even though the visual image of the ship is significantly smaller in shape?
